"My One Word" is "Sticktoitiveness". I wasn't even sure it was a word. I heard it and said it, in one fatal swoop; in front of God and everybody. I spoke it out. There it was, "My One Word". I hadn't choose it--it had chosen me. We were going to be together now for an entire year. Immediately, I wanted to change it. The word frightened me. What if I didn't like it? Stick to it! What if it was something I didn't enjoy? Stick to it! What if I didn't feel like it? Stick to it! I don't think I like this word! Stick to it! Okay, I think I get it. Stick to it. Okay. Then, this is it. I mean who knew this word, "Stick-to-itiveness" even existed? Do made-up words even count in the "My One Word" world? Well I mused, God is a creator and He can create whatever He wants--when He wants--if He wants. So, that kinda settled it for me. Now, here I am on the 3rd day of January, and I am already being challenged to "Stick-to-it". Does this one word thingy even work? Well, see for yourself.

For the past several years I have taken the "My One Word" challenge for the year. This has helped me to stay focused. If you would like to join myself and my church by choosing a word for yourself, let me know by replying to this Blog. I will send you a magnet for your personal "My One Word", as well as your top 3 Goals for 2019. Last year, "My One Word" was "Early". Sounds like a strange word to choose, but actually it chose me. I prayed and ask the Lord for a word. I heard clearly the word "Early". This word helped me to stay ahead of all of my responsibilities. This year, I had not decided upon "My One Word", then right before midnight I heard, "Stictoitiveness". I wasn't sure that it was a word. I Googled it. Sure enough it was a real word. Action Step: Take the "One Word" Challenge for yourself. Contact me and let me send you a free magnet. See for yourself how focusing on just "One Word" can make a huge difference.
Happy New Year! I don't know about you, but a new year gets me thinking about what was, and what is to be? I think about my life and what I have done with it all? Anybody with me? I mean what have we done with our lives? I have an edge. I write a Blog. So, I decided to go back to my first Blog ever back in 2015. This is what I found: Beginnings are always exciting, scary and yet anticipated. What would you do if you weren't afraid? That was a question I was asked once by a man and his words return to me often. I am still asking myself that question. What would you do if you weren't afraid? The questions haunts me, yet I have not been able to fully answer it. I ask myself, “Am I afraid?” The word tells us to, “fear not.” Yet many in the Bible fell to their knees in fear. In the last days we are told men’s hearts will fail them due to fear. Yes, I know I have heard it too. Fear is just False Evidence Appearing Real. To humans however perception is reality. Hence, the only way for me to live a fearless life is to have greater faith than I have fear. Think about it. If we have greater faith in God’s ability to protect us than in the world Satan’s ability to harm us, then we will have no fear. So day one, I will fear not- by feeding my faith. As my faith grows my fears shrink. Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. KJV When I read this I thought to myself, "I am not afraid!" I am not afraid of today, tomorrow or forever. What have I done with my life? I have got to know God! I have read His word and hidden it in my heart. I have had three beautiful daughters, and been married to a true man of God for over 40 years. I have made many friends and lost a few. I have climbed a lot of mountains and fallen down a few hills. I have logged in a lot of miles, by foot, air, car, truck, bus, bike and probably a few by animal, and who knows how many by boat! I have lived my life! Just like you I have made great choices, and not so great choices. But God! I could have just wrote that two word sentence..."But God!" That pretty well sums up my life.
This year I plan to do my best, but somedays I am sure I will miss the mark....but God. I will live each day with the hope that life will be filled with laughter and health, and even if the hope fails... I know God won't. Bottom line I will live each day by faith, and that faith must be greater than all my fears. Action Step: Live fearless! Feed your faith! I pray as you look back over the year in 2020 you will say with great faith, "But God!" |
