I should begin by saying I am not Irish, however I am sure lots of my readers and followers out there are. So, this one is for you. I found this to be very interesting.
"Saint Patrick, who lived during the fifth century, is the patron saint of Ireland and its national apostle. Born in Roman Britain, he was kidnapped and brought to Ireland as a slave at the age of 16. He later escaped, but returned to Ireland and was credited with bringing Christianity to its people.
In the centuries following Patrick’s death (believed to have been on March 17, 461), the mythology surrounding his life became ever more ingrained in the Irish culture: Perhaps the most well-known legend of St. Patrick is that he explained the Holy Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) using the three leaves of a native Irish clover, (my father was the best at finding these for us as kids) the shamrock." Now, for trivia I found that supposedly St. Patrick ridded Ireland of all snakes. Unfortunately, I could not find any facts on this. Considering that he is attributed to bringing Christianity to the people of Ireland, I could see how this snake story goes together. (This for table talk later.)

One of these is Chicago’s annual dyeing of the Chicago River green. The practice started in 1962, when city pollution-control workers used dyes to trace illegal sewage discharges and realized that the green dye might provide a unique way to celebrate the holiday. That year, they released 100 pounds of green vegetable dye into the river–enough to keep it green for a week. Today, in order to minimize environmental damage, only 40 pounds of dye are used, and the river turns green for only several hours.

ACTION STEP: Put on some green and enjoy the day. We could all use a little laughter and a reason to celebrate. We may not all be able to be together today for varying reasons, but with the help of the phone, FaceTime and Messenger we can for a moment enjoy family, friendship and heritage.
I don't believe in luck at all the root of the word comes from Lucifer, but I do believe in being proud of one's heritage. If Jesus is Lord then we belong to a Kingdom but we still possess in our bodies a nationality. So, if your Irish go ahead and celebrate. Read about your ancestors. They had it tough in the potato famine and when they first came to America. But, they persevered! I can see why they say they are "Proud to be Irish." They stuck together.
