You all know I love shoes, and since it's "Kick your feet up Friday" I thought I'd show off my shoes! It's been an intense week, but hey--we are still here and kicking up our feet, (pun intended).

I hope these Vlogs are helping you, and that perhaps you are realizing, or just learning about yourself, perhaps why you get triggered; and how you can use those triggers to steer your life in the right direction; rather than drowning in the waters of abandonment and rejection.

Early childhood experiences are the biggest contributor to developing abandonment issues when you become an adult. The traumatic event might include the loss of a parent by divorce or death or not getting enough physical or emotional care as a child. Emotional abandonment occurs when parents:
  • Do not let their children express themselves emotionally
  • Ridicule their children
  • Put too much pressure on their children to be “perfect”
  • Treat their children like their peers
Abandonment issues happen when a parent or caregiver does not provide the child with consistent warm or attentive interactions, leaving them feeling chronic stress and fear. The experiences that happen during a child’s development will often continue into adulthood. This is why abandonment issues become more prevalent as you get older and can affect your relationships.

ACTION STEP: I am a big advocate of fasting. I am not saying I like to fast, I don't. I enjoy the benefits of fasting. I hear better. I am less physically uncomfortable. I have more energy. It affords me more time because I am not preparing meals. That being said, kick up your feet and allow yourself time to process your week. Take time to do a little safe care. Be good to yourself. If these post have awakened some hurts of the past, stay with me as we go deeper next week. We will take this journey together. Talk with you on Monday January 18, 2021.
