Growing up with four brothers, (all younger I might add), burping was a sport. Girls of course did not engage in this sport. Who could burp the loudest? Who could burp the longest? I do think "Elf" gets that prize after chugging the two liter bottle of soda with a spaghetti dinner. Just my opinion of course, as you or a family member may have beat that record. (smiley face)
Oh, back to the reason I am writing this. I love to ride bike. In this weather it is almost impossible. I guess you could say in the area I live, it's a warm weather sport. Nevertheless, I attend when at all possible with my schedule a Spin Class. After ingesting a green smoothie--is there any other color? I head off for class. As soon as I was warmed up and we started up the hills I felt sick. I looked over at a friend who was red faced, not green like myself and said, "Not a good idea to down a smoothie before class." We both laughed and kept peddling. By the third interval of climbing while coming up and out of the seat, and then back into the seat peddling as fast as you can, then back up, out of the seat with as much tension as you can--I burped! I burped loud. Needless to say the guys turned around and looked at me, (a girl a third of their size) and looked shocked. It was kinda of a guy burp. Guess they thought they'd give me the, (What's up Dude look.) Nope, just me a little woman looking totally embarrassed, although turning pick and feeling much better. My friend, also one of my church members started giggling. I burst out laughing and thought, "I am a human. Human's burp." Thoughts of burping babies (both genders) raced through my mind as I tried to stop laughing and hide my embarrassment to no avail. My take-a-way from my Spin Class last night? Real girls burp.
ACTION STEP: Don't quit because you reacted when you should have responded. I guess when I was feeling sick I could have gotten off my bike and left the gym. Maybe then, I would have walked it off, not burped? Then again, maybe I would have still burped. I would have burped alone and missed the class, not had to apologize, and not had a really good laugh? I will take the later. I learned a lesson, "Don't drink and pedal." It is a lesson I won't soon forget, as I had to apologize publicly, and take a few dirty, (although surprised) looks. I can take it. So can you. So....get out there and pedal!
