Refusing to get angry and soar higher.

"Remember this, my dear friends! Everyone must be quick to listen, but slow to speak and slow to become angry. Human anger does not achieve God’s righteous purpose."
James 1:19-20)

"Don’t give in to worry or anger;
it only leads to trouble."
(Psalm 37:8)

I am not a Buddha advocate by any means but, this photo and quote say so much. Just think about what this picture portrays? We hurt ourselves when we are angry at others. Most people say, "They made me angry or it made me angry". In truth we choose to be angry. We choose to pick up that hot coal. We choose to take the bait that satan is setting in front of us. Satan knows if we pick it up we are hurting ourselves as well as others. Remember, Satan comes to steal, kill and destroy. That's all he ever wants to do to us. We must decide to be ruled by the Spirit of God within us rather than the circumstances that surround us.

We will all have opportunities to allow ourselves to become angry. The Bible tells us to be angry is okay, but not to let it pour over into sin.
"If you become angry, do not let your anger lead you into sin,
and do not stay angry all day."

(Ephesians 4:26)

So, you see being angry and grabbing a hold of anger, and letting someone have it, are two very different things. Feelings of anger are normal. Anger controlling us has nothing to do with us, and everything to do with the devil having his way in us. Satan wants to control us. Jesus died to free us. We can choose to walk in freedom that can see the bait of satan, and not bite it. We can let it go. People will not always treat us the way we deserve or would like to be treated. That's life. But, abundant life walks higher.

When an eagle sees a storm he smiles and flies above the storm. It truly allows him the privilege of soaring without the work. The storm allows him to glide and use the winds to his advantage. Chickens and others lower creatures just cluck and pick and remain in the storm.

ACTION STEP: Don't letter anger go too far. Stop and recognize who is really setting up the situation and scenario? Refuse to take the bait. Soar above the circumstance. The only other birds an eagle meets where he flies, is other eagles. It matters who you hang out with. Choose your company carefully. Not everyone has access to leaders.

Oh, and PS...leaders are readers. Thanks for reading along with me on this journey called life. I choose to fly with you. Let's keep climbing!

One way to climb with me and soar above our circumstances is to hang out together and continue to learn together. You can do that by going to

People with a hot temper do foolish things; wiser people remain calm.
(Proverbs 14:17)

But I promise you that if you are angry with someone, you will have to stand trial. If you call someone a fool, you will be taken to court. And if you say that someone is worthless, you will be in danger of the fires of hell.
(Matthew 5:22)

Get rid of all bitterness, passion, and anger. No more shouting or insults, no more hateful feelings of any sort.
(Ephesians 4:31)

But keep away from foolish and ignorant arguments; you know that they end up in quarrels. As the Lord’s servant, you must not quarrel. You must be kind toward all, a good and patient teacher, who is gentle as you correct your opponents, for it may be that God will give them the opportunity to repent and come to know the truth.
(2 Timothy 2:23-25)
