Many of us have worked hard all of our lives to make the world a better place or at least a better place for some. Once that better place is established then some one needs to keep that place up. There are taxes to pay. There is maintenance to be done. Then the question arises, "Who will take care of all of this when I am gone?" "Who will ensure all of my hard work will not be lost?"
A successor needs to love us, not what we do, or what we get paid. Our successor must love us and love what we love. Jesus chose 12 men who loved what He loved and hated what He hated. When asks one of them replied, "Where would we go? You have the word of life." Once we are convinced that our leader/leadership is hearing from God and following to the best of their ability it become easier to love and follow their lead.

ACTION STEP: Who are you teaching what you know? Who will you leave what you have worked so hard for? What have you begun that needs to continue when you are gone? Start now. Look for those who love you. Peter, James and John loved Jesus. They all had issues but they were willing to continue to the work which Jesus gave His life for along with Paul and many of the other disciples. It matters that we learn to lead the ones that follow the closest.
