Third Degree Mother Hunger and Childhood PTSD, CEN and Abandonment--What you don't know can hurt you.

Deuteronomy 31:6 ESV
"Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”

When writing my book needless to say, I remembered little details that started to make big differences. I remembered things my parents, aunts and uncles had said in conversations. This catapulted me into our local courthouse for some crime investigation. I felt like Columbo or Nancy Drew digging into the catacombs of my past.

Interesting, that the word catapult is a military term because it awakened the warrior in me to fight for my freedom, from what was unseen but deadly--a generational curse of CPTSD (Childhood Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) was at work in my DNA. Also, the word catacombs that I used above, means underground cemetery. Perhaps, the reason I was struggling with this enemy, was that it was (in-a-me) that's right, in me. Did you ever think that what you are fighting is actually coursing through your veins? No? Me neither, until I began to learn what I didn't know. No wonder in Hosea 4:6 it says, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge..."

What we do not know can be destroying our lives and be passed down to those we love. It is time to do some investigating. Why do we act the way we do? It is not just our personality type, though we thank you Tim LaHaye--great book. It is what we are made of. The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel Van Der Kolk, MD is a great book to get you started. Needless, to say the Bible stories tell it all, if you follow the storylines of the heroes and heroines. Our sins do find us out.

As an adult of Childhood Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Childhood Emotional Neglect and Abandonment I experience several things that adults from healthy childhood backgrounds do not, such as high anxiety, inappropriate outburst of anger or laughter as if trying to be dramatic, when in fact I am trying very hard to suppress my emotions. This propensity causes me to distrust others and myself, which leads to lower self-esteem. Confidence leaves like a fast train and I am left in the wake of, why is the happening to me once again? And that, is only one of the many things we fight.

If you are screaming, "Me too, me too, me too" then, maybe it's time to have a little talk with Jesus, a counselor or even a coach like myself to have a serious discussion. It can help. It helped me and it is still helping me. There is hope. Jesus blood cleanses ours. You read that right. Jesus's blood can clean our dirty and marred backgrounds that have changed our mental grids, caused us to think we are less than, and created a thought process that gets us on a hamster wheel running patterns that are self-destructive. Perhaps, stopping us from reaching our God given destiny and being the best version of us we were meant to be.

ACTION STEP: Today, start paying attention to what you feel instead of trying to ignore or suppress, and deny the feelings you are having. Maybe keep a journal starting today and label it, "My journey to wholeness." Today is the day the Lord has made so let's rejoice and be glad in it. We can take what happen to us and allow God to work through us. Together we are better.
