ACTION STEP: Watch what you say. Say rewind if you need to. Say what you want. Don't speak what you don't want. Agree with God. Proverbs 18:21 (KJV) says, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof." Decide today to choose life by the words you speak. Life will be a lot more tasty and we will probably be slower to speak and quicker to listen.
Genesis 2:19 (NIV) "Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name." I am not sure why I never noticed this before, perhaps I did, and failed to grasp its meaning. Look at the later part of this scripture, "...and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name." Perhaps it is the fast? Perhaps I am wrong? However, when I read this it jumped off the page and I understood it to mean, that if I call something by a name, that is what it is. If I use my mouth and call a sickness, disease, or something I don't want, it does not negate that was its name. There is power in the Name of Jesus. There is the power of life and death in the tongue. So, if I call a growth on my body for example cancer, that will be its name. If on the other hand I call it gone, then that will be its name. We choose life or death with our mouth. Call our children a name and that will be their name. Who wants a child that's stupid, bad, lazy, mean or hateful? I remember a preacher once saying, "If you don't want the dog, then don't call it." Well, I get it! I will call things what I want there name to be.
