Jeremiah 30:2 ESV“Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: Write in a book all the words that I have spoken to you."

Today, is the first day of a new month. Time flies by quickly. Regardless, of whether we do something productive or we waste our days, time goes by. So, do thoughts, dreams and visions, they travel through our mind and are lost unless, we write them down. Writing a book is a way to connect memory with history.
“There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed.”
― Ernest Hemingway
We left off yesterday, having completed three things I learned while writing my books. Today, we begin with the fourth thing I learned and go through to number five. These are in no certain order.

4.  In order for your book to be sold in a store, it needs a Universal Product Code. This is a barcode symbol that is used worldwide for tracking trade. The UPC consists of twelve digits. A person can buy these themselves, and they have a set price based on how many you purchase. For example you can purchase ten for an initial fee of $250.00, then a renewal fee of $50.00. These codes don't expire, they are yours for life. Usually, your publisher will already have these and pass the price on to you.

5. In order to protect ones intellectual properties they need to be copywritten. A poor man's copyright is to mail the material to yourself. All the edges must be taped down and stamped by the postal service. You actually send the material to yourself. I did this in my early stages of songwriting. The way I went for my books was U.S. Copyrights. You simply go to the website and click on the proper tab, such as Register a Literary Work, then create an account. Then, Register a new claim. For all the songs I have written, I have gotten my copywritten done in these two fashions. For my books, my publisher did this for me. Again, their is a charge. When I started writing songs it cost me about $5.00 per song. Then, a song went up to $20.00 per song or album to receive a copyright license. These were sent to me directly in a letter form. The best thing to do is contact the U.S. Copyright Office 1-877-476-0778 toll free, or go to their website when you are ready to protect your property. This does not necessarily cover your book internationally, though it does in some countries. If you decide to do your book in other languages you will need to check with that particular country.

6. The jacket of your book needs to be as timeless as possible. It needs to speak of your books content, but also of the vision you are trying to create. If you know that your going to be writing several books within the same theme, think about how they will look grouped together. This is not as important, if it is going to be a stand alone book. Right now I am working to finish, The Blue Jean Jacket "How Abandonment Affects your Health, Wealth and Relationships." So, I am working with a photographer who is taking pictures of my own Blue Jean Jacket.

Tomorrow, we will look at a few more points of helps in writing your book.

Remember, I believe in you and you need to believe in yourself.
