I'm not stuck I'm stationed.

Many reading this including myself have thought at one time or another, "I'm stuck!" We feel we are stuck in a dead-end job going no where. We feel stuck in our marriage. We feel stuck at home with the kids. We feel stuck in a house we don't like. We feel stuck in a hospital bed. Well, we can lean a lesson from Apostle Paul when we are in those situations, that I am not stuck I'm stationed!"
Picture
When Paul found himself without a boat on, the island of Malta, he didn't start screaming, "I'm stuck!" Instead, he immediately went to work to change his current situation. He was cold, wet and tired! Not a good situation to find oneself in. So among barbarians (that is just who you want to be with when you're stuck), he started helping others start a fire. Don't miss that first part--he started helping others. We have got to do something to get things turned around!
Acts 28:2-4 "...The islanders showed us extraordinary kindness. They kindled a fire and welcomed all of us because it was raining and cold. Paul gathered a bundle of sticks, and as he laid them on the fire, a viper, driven out by the heat, fastened itself to his hand. When the islanders saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, “Surely this man is a murderer. Although he was saved from the sea, Justice has not allowed him to live.”…
So in the middle of being stuck, Paul is being shown kindness, and that kindness encourages him to start helping the islanders to build a fire. Kindness is an encourager. Then, just as soon as he is encouraged enough to get up, and, go do something to change his situation, satan (a viper), bites him yet again. Oh, if I were preaching we would have a great time right here. See, satan is relentless at trying to discourage us. Look, it gets even worse. The islanders (barbarians), see he has been bit, and now they start talking bad about him, don't even rush to his aid to cut him, suck the poison out, put on a tourniquet, nooooooooo they were waiting for him to die! Tell yourself, "I am not stuck I am stationed!"

Do you ever feel so stuck that even others seemingly are just waiting for you to die? This was the situation Paul found himself in, and you know what he did? He shook it off! Paul was refusing to stay stuck because of other people's dumb choices. We have got to know, we serve a great God who works all things--all things--all things together, for our good and makes what was meant for evil turn around!

Paul went on to heal others with the very hand that had been bit by the poisonous viper. Here's where I want to preach!!!! "Tell your neighbor to "Shake it off!" "God had got a plan!" "You are not stuck!" "You are stationed!"
Picture
Today get up and do something to change your current situation, and refuse to stay stuck because...you are just stationed!

Don't judge! That's a job for God.

I will pick back up tomorrow on what we have been discussing but I have to share this, this morning. I am on the trail last night and I see this lady stop to back into a space along the Rails of Trails, and this guy in a truck comes in behind her, and pulls straight into where she is about to back in. I get hot quick. In that moment, I noticed she had two car seats and, two little children sitting in them. I think to myself, "How rude!". This guy is just plan mean to this lady. I am going to say something. So I get out of my vehicle and start over to his truck and as I do, he walks over to the lady's car, opens the back seat door and, the two kids yell, "Daddy!". I stop dead in my tracks and start laughing to myself. I hear God tell me, "Good thing you didn't say any thing--that's their Daddy."  "I'm your Daddy and I told you, "Slow to anger and judge not." I can not believe how quickly I almost took that bait. Had God not saved me, I would have really been in some trouble.

This got me thinking about what Jesus told us. Look it up in Matthew 7:1 of the NIV and it says, "Do not judge, or you too will be judged."  It is so easy to use our five physical senses and come to a quick conclusion. We must remember our five physical senses will fail us. The only thing that will not fail every time is the word of God. So today, get in the word and let the word get in you! Until tomorrow practice what you just read and share it with a friend.

Bit but not bitter~God will see you through!

Bit but not bitter. For the last several days I have been sharing on Steven Furtick's recent sermon entitled, "It Had To Happen" which can be found on You Tube at this address: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qAQjgpnXj2k Sometimes, when we hang out with people we get bit because of their bad decisions. Paul had said, that the situation did not have to happen; yet we have read enough of the Bible to know, that God will use other peoples bad decisions for our good? Come on, you remember the story of Joseph. Joseph said, his brothers had did it for evil but God, had used it for Joseph's good. God told Paul He was still with him, and would protect him, even though the ship was going down. Paul got a revelation from the situation but, he still never knew the reason. So when we get bit...just don't let it get into you and allow yourself to get bitter.

We have all done those things that we knew we should have never done! Come on admit it! People even told you, "Don't do it." However, how many of you have gone ahead and did it anyway? People have told me things and I just shook it off only to get bit and had to shake that snake off too, but I know God was with me. God didn't leave me in the storm. God never left me in the wrecks I've experienced because of others experiences. God was with me in the times when I thought the fight was over only to get bit by a snake (the devil). BUT GOD! See if we keep our eyes on God He will see us through.
1 John 4:4 (KJV) "Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world."
Next time you find yourself in a storm--next time you find yourself bit by the devil, let me give you a revelation; "Shake it off." Some things just have to happen, so God can prove His power and, show you He is with you! Forget trying to figure out all the reasons for what happened and, just get the revelation that God will see you through that, just like he saw God see him through the storm, the shipwreck, and....the snake bit! God will see you through!
