Dry Docked-a season of preparation.

Ezekiel 38:7
“Be prepared, and prepare yourself, you and all your companies that are assembled about you, and be a guard for them."
Picture
Jake Kail wrote that there are generally three stages in the process of fulfilling our destiny: calling, preparation, commissioning. This is not a cookie-cutter formula; but this pattern is seen throughout the Scriptures.

I want to now focus in on the season of preparation. This is the time between the calling and the fulfillment of the call; between a prophetic word and its fulfillment; between sowing seed and reaping a harvest; between humbling yourself and being exalted.

Based on the lives of many in the Bible and my own experience, I have come to see that there are some common characteristics of a season of preparation. Some of these may apply to you more than others.

During a Season of Preparation…
1. There is pruning

Jesus said this in John 15:1-2: “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.  Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.”
Here is how I have recently come to define pruning: a painful process of purification and preparation. Pruning is not fun; but the end result is greater fruitfulness in God’s kingdom. If we submit to God’s process of pruning we will come out on the other side ready to produce fruit.
It is important to understand that pruning is not punishment—it is preparation. A season of pruning actually indicates the capacity for greater fruitfulness.

2. There is Testing
Part of this pruning process is testing. Character is tested. Impurities in motive are brought to the surface. We are tested to see if we will be faithful with little things.
Paul admonished that those who take on leadership positions must not be “a novice, lest being puffed up with pride he fall into the same condemnation as the devil” (1 Timothy 3:6). Then he says that those who aspire to be deacons must “first be tested” (1 Timothy 3:10). As God brings us through a refining process, He is bringing us to the place where we can handle promotion. If we are promoted prematurely, pride may set in and cause us to fall.

3. You are “hidden
”The preparation process involves waiting. John the Baptist waited in the wilderness “until the day of his manifestation to Israel.” Joseph waited in prison, hidden away from society. Abraham waited 13 years for his promise from God to come to pass.
Though we are not in a literal wilderness, it is as if God hides us. We have true gifts, but they are undiscovered by many. We have a true calling, but we are not received by the church. We have a sense of vision, but we are waiting for it to come to fruition.

4. Your influence is limited
During a season of preparation you may have influence, but it is limited.
David was called to be king—the most influential person in Israel. The prophet Samuel anointed him and declared that he was God’s choice for the next ruler of Israel.
After this he was launched into difficult season of preparation. King Saul became obsessed with trying to kill David, and so he was often on the run and in hiding. During this time a group of 400 men gathered to him and he became there leader. His influence was real, but it was limited to a much smaller number than he would influence when he became king.

5. Your gifts are restricted

In the season of preparation your gifts begin to emerge. But they are limited by your circumstances, environment, and sometimes those above you in leadership. It is normal during this time to be in a situation that is not ideal for your gifts to function.
Joseph’s gifts were real while he was in Potiphar’s house as a slave, and while he was in the prison. But they were restricted by his environment. One of the reasons for this dynamic is that in a season of preparation God is often doing more in you than through you.
We cannot control the seasons. We cannot make the season of preparation end  by our own will or desire. But we can cooperate with God in each season and trust Him to faithfully bring us to the next!

Don't be anxious for your season to change rather get everything you need from it. Seasons can change quickly and we do not want to be unprepared.

Most of this message comes from JAKE KAIL. I personally do not know Jake but have recently found him while doing a search. I am checking him out and you may want to do the same.

Jake Kail is the author of multiple books, and he speaks at churches, conferences, retreats, and other events. He lives with his wife and family in Lancaster, PA where he serves as the lead pastor of Threshold Church.

ACTION STEP: For a deeper study:

In his book, Of God and Man, theologian Aiden W. Tozer could clearly see what the priority of the church should be in this regard: "The popular notion that the first obligation of the church is to spread the gospel to the uttermost parts of the earth is false. Her first obligation is to be spiritually worthy to spread it."

First things must come first. Spiritual preparation must precede physical activity. God sanctified Jesus Christ to do what He did, and yet He still went through thirty years of preparation before beginning His active ministry. Not all of us have the exact sanctification, though; not everyone has been set apart to do what Paul did, or what Peter did, or what John did. They received a specific calling, a specific sanctification to do what they did. God directed these men as He saw fit, and they submitted to Him. Nevertheless, He does not direct everyone to do the same thing. There are many offices in God's House, and many functions within the Body of Christ (see I Corinthians 12:1-11, 28-30).

However, if we have been called by God, we have been given a general sanctification (I John 2:27). We have already been set apart from the world (John 17:6). What is more, we are being sanctified (Hebrews 2:11). We are being purified and having God's character and nature created in us. This is the work that the Creator is doing. This is what Tozer called being "spiritually worthy," and what we call "go[ing] on to perfection" (Hebrews 6:1).

Psalm 140:7
“O God the Lord, the strength of my salvation, thou hast covered my head in the day of battle.”
Picture
Comparisons are usually not good. But, there are times when need to compare ourselves with those in the Bible; especially those listed in the hall of fame in Hebrews.

Do you ever feel opened and exposed during the trials of life?  Do you ever feel that the enemy has free pickings when it comes to your heart ache?  Well, he doesn’t!  The enemies of this life may chase you, hunt you down and all together seek to make your life miserable, but the enemies do not have the last say over anything.  God, in His complete sovereignty has you covered!

If anybody knew about being constantly chased by enemies seeking to take their life it was David.  Saul, in a jealous pursuit, saw something special in David, the favor of God, and wanted to destroy David.  There were days when David may have felt like giving up.  There were days of hiding in caves and pretending to be a mad-man to seek solitude in other countries.  But, through it all David dealt best with his enemies through prayer.  He declared who his God was and committed his trust to Him.  In Psalm 140:7, “O God the Lord, the strength of my salvation, thou hast covered my head in the day of battle.”

To be covered means to be concealed and to be protected.  The battles of this life may at times make us feel that we are an open target to everyone who can’t stand the favor of God on us, but be of good cheer, God’s got us covered!  “As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the LORD is round about his people from henceforth even for ever,” (Psalm 125:2).  And, if God is like a mountain surrounding us then there is no adversary that can break through the covering He has over us.  It may feel like we are on the run sometimes but God is still that protecting force that “covered my head in the day of battle.”  Commit your heart aches, your battle and your enemies to God and let Him be your covering today.

James 3:4
"Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth."
Picture
The Bible tells us, to be in season at all times. We are always to be ready, to give a reason for our faith. Storms can drive us off course, but we are still the one, God will hold responsible, for our decisions, and what we do with the time we are given here on this earth.

Points on Time Management:
1. Use Your Time WISELY
2. Use Your Time In Preparation for ETERNITY
3. Your Time Is LIMITED
4. Your Time Is PASSING
5. Your Time Is UNCERTAIN
6. Your Time Is Easily LOST
7. Only God Can Give You TIME Upon TIME

Time Management – God’s Way

Here is a FACT: Godliness is the result of a disciplined spiritual life. But at the heart of a disciplined spiritual life is the discipline use of time.

If we are going to be like Jesus – we must use our time in a way that is pleasing to God. In Ephesians chapter five verses fifteen and sixteen we find:

“Look therefore carefully how ye walk, not as unwise, but as wise; redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” Ephesians 5:15-16 (ASV)

The Message Bible says it like this:
“So watch your step. Use your head. Make the most of every chance you get. These are desperate times!” Ephesians 5:15-16 (MSG)

Matthew 14:28
"Then Peter called to him, “Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water.”

We all occasionally have a lazy day or a day where we are tired, but these can not be our norm. A daily schedule or routine can help keep us on track. Success is not what we do once in a lifetime, but what we do everyday. Lester Sumrall used to say, "I never did anything great for God, I just did something everyday."

Here is a list of "To-Do's" everyday. They may seem easy, but they are easy to do and easy NOT to do.
  • Shower
  • Make your bed
  • Brush your teeth
  • Clean up your living quarters, do the dishes, wipe out the sink and counters
  • Read the Bible at least a scripture and write it out
  • Pray at least 15 minutes a day
  • Exercise even a 15 minute walk will do
  • Drink water and eat well (try cutting out one thing that's unhealthy)
  • Get a coach or an accountability partner
Everyday do something to better yourself and the lives of others. Everyday is a new opportunity to have what you've never had before, and to do what's never been done before.

Psalm 37:4
"Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart."

ACTION STEP: If the video does not show up below, view in your Browser, or click here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-2z4jihUGk

God wants to give you the desires of your heart, but you need to let what God put in you out to where, and who, God wants it and created it to go. You were made for this day!

Pray for fifteen minutes a day in prayer language. What if you don't have one? Find someone who does and asks them to pray for you. God wants His children to speak His language.

Release what God put in you! Do what He wants you to do!

Remember, I believe in you and you need to believe in yourself.

Exodus 3:3
"So Moses thought, “I must go over and see this marvelous sight. Why is the bush not burning up?"

Picture
As I share with you today, I am just spending time walking around the lake and listening to Father God, about the powerful weekend many had at Lakeview Resort in Morgantown, WV. Once again, I shared my story, heard others tell their story, and hugged and cried with many, that attended the conference, "Women on the Wall." As I listened I heard, "I'm still speaking, I still want to gather my people around the water and shove out in the boat and share with them." I realized He was speaking in a parable. He wants the "water of His Word" to surround us. He wants to use vessels (us), that will allow Him to fill them, and be used by Him, to speak His word.

We don't have to be rocking on the turbulent waters of this world. God can still our souls, and speak to our spirits, and we can find peace. We can find our purpose. We can regain our passion and fire, for the things of God. It is not too late.

ACTION STEP: Start today, to read the Bible with the purpose of finding your purpose. Do a topical study on men and women of God that found their purpose in saying, "Yes!" to God. Men and women that were working their secular job, and yet God found them, and called them out, to be separated unto Him.

God still speaks today. His voice is found in the silence, the whisper, the alone times. Today, is the day to hear Him. He created you with purpose, and for a purpose. Turn aside today, and see what others miss, because they are too busy to see through the bush, and see the fire of God.

Remember, I believe in you and you need to believe in yourself.

Embrace your Season.

Acts 22:16
"And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name."

Picture
We are Christ's representatives down here. That is an awesome responsibility - and maybe sometimes a little overwhelming when we see ourselves in His light, knowing we so often fall short. We need to be ever aware that the non-Christian world is watching. We need to be living wisely and uprightly, so they can see a difference in our lives.

At times it seems that we are out of season. At times we feel like we don't belong or that we don't matter. We are matter. The devil is a liar. Our quest is to believe the truth--what God says about us, about others and to us directly through His Word and His spoke persons.

How often have we missed opportunities to share Christ with others? I know of many times I have failed to share Christ when there was a perfect opportunity. For some of us sharing Christ with others seems to be hard, while others find it a lot easier. Let us challenge ourselves to look for opportunities every day to share something of Christ - maybe your testimony, or a recent blessing or answer to prayer. When we think of it, there are quite a few things we can share, like our personal testimony of God's goodness. You don't have to share the 'Salvation Message' every time you open your mouth, but just the little, everyday things as you converse with people.

Whether we are setting in the port, on on the lake, or the high seas, let's look for the drowning and cast the lifeline of the message of Jesus Christ. You may not be where you are for you, but you may just be there, for someone else.

ACTION STEP: Embrace your season. Allow yourself--give yourself, permission to do the hard work of self realization, healing and acknowledgement of where you are right now; and why?  Make the most of your season, wherever you are.

Proverbs are widely used to express that every possible opportunity to do good by God’s command should be taken. There is always an opportunity to better the world in some way, by following the advice of scripture and acting on love.

Get out there and enjoy life!!!

2 Corinthians 1:17-22 ESV
"Was I vacillating when I wanted to do this? Do I make my plans according to the flesh, ready to say “Yes, yes” and “No, no” at the same time?  As surely as God is faithful, our word to you has not been Yes and No.  For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, whom we proclaimed among you, Silvanus and Timothy and I, was not Yes and No, but in him it is always Yes. For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory.  And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee."

ACTION STEP:  Today, I am keeping my priorities straight hence no video. I have a speaking engagement on Friday and am focusing my energies on preparing. But, at the same time keeping my word to myself and to you since 2014 that you would receive encouragement Monday through Friday at 9AM. You are important to me. I believe in you and you need to believe in yourself.

After being honest about what our priorities are in life, a list should be made. This may seem tedious, however, lists really put things into perspective. They open up opportunities for us to be even more honest about our goals or priorities. And it gives us a better chance at identifying and knowing which priorities are right.

Here is a link to help you with setting your priorities:

I am looking for someone to video me and start transitioning this into a pure Vlog or Podcast. Please pray for me that God will send me help.

Hebrews 12:1
“ Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.”
Picture
We tend to forget that although our life, our circumstances and our feelings change, our God remains the same. The One who sustained, strengthened, comforted and guided us all throughout our life, remains the same.
If you are hauling a suitcase full of burdens, be reminded that our Lord, Jesus Christ, wants to give us rest. He calls to us and can renew, restore, and replenish us any time of the year. So go ahead, lay your baggage of burdens down at His feet in exchange for His perfect peace.

It is one thing to carry purpose, it is another thing to carry baggage. If you want to be better equipped in the coming year I want to help you. Head on over to my website www.renaperozich.com. Getting a coach can help change your life. It did mine.

Psalm 55:22

"Turn your burdens over to the LORD, and he will take care of you. He will never let the righteous person stumble."

Psalm 18:6
"But in my distress I cried out to the LORD; yes, I prayed to my God for help."
