Partial obedience is disobedience. Change is coming. A prophetic word for today.

Numbers 23
Balaam said, “Build me seven altars here, and prepare seven bulls and seven rams for me.” 2 Balak did as Balaam said, and the two of them offered a bull and a ram on each altar.
3 Then Balaam said to Balak, “Stay here beside your offering while I go aside. Perhaps the Lord will come to meet with me. Whatever he reveals to me I will tell you.” Then he went off to a barren height.
4 God met with him, and Balaam said, “I have prepared seven altars, and on each altar I have offered a bull and a ram.”
5 The Lord put a word in Balaam’s mouth and said, “Go back to Balak and give him this word.”
6 So he went back to him and found him standing beside his offering, with all the Moabite officials. 7 Then Balaam spoke his message:
“Balak brought me from Aram,
    the king of Moab from the eastern mountains.
‘Come,’ he said, ‘curse Jacob for me;
    come, denounce Israel.’
8 How can I curse
    those whom God has not cursed?
How can I denounce
    those whom the Lord has not denounced?
9 From the rocky peaks I see them,
    from the heights I view them.
I see a people who live apart
    and do not consider themselves one of the nations.
10 Who can count the dust of Jacob
    or number even a fourth of Israel?
Let me die the death of the righteous,
    and may my final end be like theirs!”

11 Balak said to Balaam, “What have you done to me? I brought you to curse my enemies, but you have done nothing but bless them!”
12 He answered, “Must I not speak what the Lord puts in my mouth?”
13 Then Balak said to him, “Come with me to another place where you can see them; you will not see them all but only the outskirts of their camp. And from there, curse them for me.” 14 So he took him to the field of Zophim on the top of Pisgah, and there he built seven altars and offered a bull and a ram on each altar.
15 Balaam said to Balak, “Stay here beside your offering while I meet with him over there.”
16 The Lord met with Balaam and put a word in his mouth and said, “Go back to Balak and give him this word.”
17 So he went to him and found him standing beside his offering, with the Moabite officials. Balak asked him, “What did the Lord say?”
18 Then he spoke his message:
“Arise, Balak, and listen;
    hear me, son of Zippor.
19 God is not human, that he should lie,
    not a human being, that he should change his mind.
Does he speak and then not act?
    Does he promise and not fulfill?
20 I have received a command to bless;
    he has blessed, and I cannot change it.

21 “No misfortune is seen in Jacob,
    no misery observed in Israel.
The Lord their God is with them;
    the shout of the King is among them.
22 God brought them out of Egypt;
    they have the strength of a wild ox.
23 There is no divination against Jacob,
    no evil omens against Israel.
It will now be said of Jacob
    and of Israel, ‘See what God has done!’
24 The people rise like a lioness;
    they rouse themselves like a lion
that does not rest till it devours its prey
    and drinks the blood of its victims.”

25 Then Balak said to Balaam, “Neither curse them at all nor bless them at all!”
26 Balaam answered, “Did I not tell you I must do whatever the Lord says?”
27 Then Balak said to Balaam, “Come, let me take you to another place. Perhaps it will please God to let you curse them for me from there.” 28 And Balak took Balaam to the top of Peor, overlooking the wasteland.
29 Balaam said, “Build me seven altars here, and prepare seven bulls and seven rams for me.” 30 Balak did as Balaam had said, and offered a bull and a ram on each altar.

We might be surprised that God spoke to and through someone as obviously wicked as Balaam. But this shows us that spiritual giftedness does not equal spiritual maturity or holiness of life. God spoke through a donkey in the previous chapter and now He spoke through a bigger donkey.

God does not change but He does change His mind. He was sorry as we saw yesterday He anointed Saul as King.
There are several examples in the Bible of God changing his mind or "repenting" of what he planned. Perhaps the most well known change occurred with Nineveh, the capital of the ruthless Assyrian Empire. When Jonah visited the city, he proclaimed repeatedly that in forty days God would overthrow the city (Jonah 3:4).

I feel very strongly that God is about to come on the scene and change His mind about our nation and what is going on. To those that know God and understand His ways it will not be a surprise. To those that don't it will be very confusing and even frightening.

1 Samuel 15

Samuel said to Saul, “I am the one the Lord sent to anoint you king over his people Israel; so listen now to the message from the Lord. 2 This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘I will punish the Amalekites for what they did to Israel when they waylaid them as they came up from Egypt. 3 Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.’”
4 So Saul summoned the men and mustered them at Telaim—two hundred thousand foot soldiers and ten thousand from Judah. 5 Saul went to the city of Amalek and set an ambush in the ravine. 6 Then he said to the Kenites, “Go away, leave the Amalekites so that I do not destroy you along with them; for you showed kindness to all the Israelites when they came up out of Egypt.” So the Kenites moved away from the Amalekites.
7 Then Saul attacked the Amalekites all the way from Havilah to Shur, near the eastern border of Egypt. 8 He took Agag king of the Amalekites alive, and all his people he totally destroyed with the sword. 9 But Saul and the army spared Agag and the best of the sheep and cattle, the fat calves and lambs—everything that was good. These they were unwilling to destroy completely, but everything that was despised and weak they totally destroyed.
10 Then the word of the Lord came to Samuel: 11 “I regret that I have made Saul king, because he has turned away from me and has not carried out my instructions.” Samuel was angry, and he cried out to the Lord all that night.
12 Early in the morning Samuel got up and went to meet Saul, but he was told, “Saul has gone to Carmel. There he has set up a monument in his own honor and has turned and gone on down to Gilgal.”
13 When Samuel reached him, Saul said, “The Lord bless you! I have carried out the Lord’s instructions.”
14 But Samuel said, “What then is this bleating of sheep in my ears? What is this lowing of cattle that I hear?”
15 Saul answered, “The soldiers brought them from the Amalekites; they spared the best of the sheep and cattle to sacrifice to the Lord your God, but we totally destroyed the rest.”
16 “Enough!” Samuel said to Saul. “Let me tell you what the Lord said to me last night.”
“Tell me,” Saul replied.
17 Samuel said, “Although you were once small in your own eyes, did you not become the head of the tribes of Israel? The Lord anointed you king over Israel. 18 And he sent you on a mission, saying, ‘Go and completely destroy those wicked people, the Amalekites; wage war against them until you have wiped them out.’ 19 Why did you not obey the Lord? Why did you pounce on the plunder and do evil in the eyes of the Lord?”
20 “But I did obey the Lord,” Saul said. “I went on the mission the Lord assigned me. I completely destroyed the Amalekites and brought back Agag their king. 21 The soldiers took sheep and cattle from the plunder, the best of what was devoted to God, in order to sacrifice them to the Lord your God at Gilgal.”
22 But Samuel replied:
“Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices
    as much as in obeying the Lord?
To obey is better than sacrifice,
    and to heed is better than the fat of rams.
23 For rebellion is like the sin of divination,
    and arrogance like the evil of idolatry.
Because you have rejected the word of the Lord,
    he has rejected you as king.”

24 Then Saul said to Samuel, “I have sinned. I violated the Lord’s command and your instructions. I was afraid of the men and so I gave in to them. 25 Now I beg you, forgive my sin and come back with me, so that I may worship the Lord.”
26 But Samuel said to him, “I will not go back with you. You have rejected the word of the Lord, and the Lord has rejected you as king over Israel!”
27 As Samuel turned to leave, Saul caught hold of the hem of his robe, and it tore. 28 Samuel said to him, “The Lord has torn the kingdom of Israel from you today and has given it to one of your neighbors—to one better than you. 29 He who is the Glory of Israel does not lie or change his mind; for he is not a human being, that he should change his mind.”
30 Saul replied, “I have sinned. But please honor me before the elders of my people and before Israel; come back with me, so that I may worship the Lord your God.” 31 So Samuel went back with Saul, and Saul worshiped the Lord.
32 Then Samuel said, “Bring me Agag king of the Amalekites.”
Agag came to him in chains. And he thought, “Surely the bitterness of death is past.”
33 But Samuel said,
“As your sword has made women childless,
    so will your mother be childless among women.”

And Samuel put Agag to death before the Lord at Gilgal.
34 Then Samuel left for Ramah, but Saul went up to his home in Gibeah of Saul. 35 Until the day Samuel died, he did not go to see Saul again, though Samuel mourned for him. And the Lord regretted that he had made Saul king over Israel.

ACTION STEP: We have one more scripture to look at from last week where I listed the references in the Bible, noting where God changed His mind. Today, we can see where, due to man's rebellion and partial rather than full obedience, God  changed His mind about the call and future of a person's life due to sin. Rebellion brings extinction. My heart is grieved when I see people operating in the Saul Spirit. The spirit that short circuits the blessed life that God has called us to. Many people start out humble and small in their own eyes, but quickly forget the leading of God and begin rather, to do their own thing their way; rather than God's way.

We have one more scripture to look at about God changing His mind. We will look at that one tomorrow. For now, let's ask ourselves where have we partially obeyed rather than fully obeyed? Where have we been "butting" God like a goat rather than a sheep? May we never cause God to regret placing the call of God on our lives.

Until tomorrow remember, I believe in you and you need to believe in yourself.

Loss because of disobedience?

What have you loss? Innocence? Faith? Trust? Disobedience is costly. For Saul, partial obedience was considered by God disobedience. God is not a "Let's make a Deal" kind of Father. His answers are yes and no. He is white or black not grey. He prefers us to be hot or cold, not lukewarm.

I do not want the Lord to have regret about my calling, mission or mandate. This is the third scripture reference, that I made mention of a few days ago. I can not get pass these portions of scripture. God does change His mind. God does not change but, He does change His mind. Regardless, of what prophetic word you have received, your part in bringing it to pass, is to be obedient all the way. Not half way. Not partially. Completely!

Many have not received a word from the Prophet in awhile--could it be that the prophets of God like Samuel, have been kept away from the Saul? We know nothing unless the Lord speaks to us.

ACTION STEP: Lord speak to us. Forgive us of our disobedient ways. Forgive us for thinking we know better. Have mercy on our souls for partially obeying. We repent. Speak Lord your servants are listening.

I believe in you and you need to believe in yourself.

Have you made a calf?

Exodus 32
And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we know not what is become of him.
2 And Aaron said unto them, Break off the golden earrings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them unto me.
3 And all the people brake off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron.
4 And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.
5 And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, To morrow is a feast to the Lord.
6 And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.
7 And the Lord said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves:
8 They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.
9 And the Lord said unto Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people:
10 Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation.
11 And Moses besought the Lord his God, and said, Lord, why doth thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand?
12 Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against thy people.
13 Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy servants, to whom thou swarest by thine own self, and saidst unto them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your seed, and they shall inherit it for ever.
14 And the Lord repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people.
15 And Moses turned, and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony were in his hand: the tables were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other were they written.
16 And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables.
17 And when Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said unto Moses, There is a noise of war in the camp.
18 And he said, It is not the voice of them that shout for mastery, neither is it the voice of them that cry for being overcome: but the noise of them that sing do I hear.
19 And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses' anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount.
20 And he took the calf which they had made, and burnt it in the fire, and ground it to powder, and strawed it upon the water, and made the children of Israel drink of it.

21 And Moses said unto Aaron, What did this people unto thee, that thou hast brought so great a sin upon them?
22 And Aaron said, Let not the anger of my lord wax hot: thou knowest the people, that they are set on mischief.
23 For they said unto me, Make us gods, which shall go before us: for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.
24 And I said unto them, Whosoever hath any gold, let them break it off. So they gave it me: then I cast it into the fire, and there came out this calf.
25 And when Moses saw that the people were naked; (for Aaron had made them naked unto their shame among their enemies:)
26 Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the Lord's side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.
27 And he said unto them, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Put every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbour.
28 And the children of Levi did according to the word of Moses: and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men.

29 For Moses had said, Consecrate yourselves today to the Lord, even every man upon his son, and upon his brother; that he may bestow upon you a blessing this day.
30 And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses said unto the people, Ye have sinned a great sin: and now I will go up unto the Lord; peradventure I shall make an atonement for your sin.
31 And Moses returned unto the Lord, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them gods of gold.

32 Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin--; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written.
33 And the Lord said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.
34 Therefore now go, lead the people unto the place of which I have spoken unto thee: behold, mine Angel shall go before thee: nevertheless in the day when I visit I will visit their sin upon them.

35 And the Lord plagued the people, because they made the calf, which Aaron made.

I mentioned in my earlier blog that life is always subject to change, only God changes not; but even He can change His mind, read the stories in Jeremiah 18, Exodus 32, 1 Samuel 15 and Numbers 23. I mentioned that I would share with you, more on this topic in the coming days.

Yesterday, I posted this portion of scripture to arouse your curiosity, but I didn't delve into it. What jumped out at me is, people get impatient when they have to wait, and usually settle for less than God's best. (verse 1 and 35)

The reason I am bringing these verses up, is they are all prophetic in nature, and they all reveal a piece of what I am seeing in the world today. Also, that people by nature, especially those that have been abandoned by parents, or those in authority, (Moses, ie their president if you will,) tend to be easily led by one person, or very few people, to do what is evil in the sight of God; the rest of the nation just follows. In Jeremiah 18, they all come against Jeremiah, and God intervenes. Here in Exodus 32, they all gather against God, and He intervenes. God is an intervening God. Take hope! Hold fast. Do not grow weary in well doing and become impatient.

ACTION STEP: Ask the Lord to search your heart and see if there is any wickedness in you. Are there wounded areas of your life that are causing you to feel abandoned? Triggering you to settle for a golden calf instead of God's best. Are you being deceived by believing a lie? Could you be wrong? Do you need to repent?

The episode of sin described in this chapter started at the impulse of popular opinion. This is an example of where the will of the people is not always the will of God.  This is true in society in general, but it is also true among God’s people. Being a Christian doesn't automatically heal us of trauma, abuse, abandonment or other issues of our past. We have to make right choices. We have to be awakened to our people pleasing tendencies, or other weaknesses, that lie beneath the surface of our "Iceberg of True Self." No one can do our push-ups for us. We have to do the hard work of self-discovery, and "YES" it is a painful, ugly, messy, process; but it is also freeing and liberating.

ACTION STEP: Read the above portion of scripture and see what God speaks to you. Then, journal your "Ah-Ha" take-a-way. I pray you are doing some journaling each day, if not--start October 1st as your new year. Go get you a new journal today. Set up a space in your house just for you to meet with God. It doesn't matter if it's a closet, an unused bedroom or a chair in the corner of the living room. You need a place. If you are really motivated today drawl a picture of an Iceberg and put down things that are under the service of your portrayed self. Then, go get the book and see what you can do about it. Or you can go to my website and get started with me coaching you. Or go to this website and get my coach to coach you  https://keithjohnson.kartra.com/page/83K-Affiliate-RenaPerozich

Jeremiah chapter 18

1 This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: 2 “Go down to the potter’s house, and there I will give you my message.” 3 So I went down to the potter’s house, and I saw him working at the wheel. 4 But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him.
5 Then the word of the Lord came to me. 6 He said, “Can I not do with you, Israel, as this potter does?” declares the Lord. “Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, Israel. 7 If at any time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be uprooted, torn down and destroyed, 8 and if that nation I warned repents of its evil, then I will relent and not inflict on it the disaster I had planned. 9 And if at another time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be built up and planted, 10 and if it does evil in my sight and does not obey me, then I will reconsider the good I had intended to do for it.
11 “Now therefore say to the people of Judah and those living in Jerusalem, ‘This is what the Lord says: Look! I am preparing a disaster for you and devising a plan against you. So turn from your evil ways, each one of you, and reform your ways and your actions.’ 12 But they will reply, ‘It’s no use. We will continue with our own plans; we will all follow the stubbornness of our evil hearts.’”
13 Therefore this is what the Lord says:
“Inquire among the nations:
    Who has ever heard anything like this?
A most horrible thing has been done
    by Virgin Israel.
14 Does the snow of Lebanon
    ever vanish from its rocky slopes?
Do its cool waters from distant sources
    ever stop flowing?[a]
15 Yet my people have forgotten me;
    they burn incense to worthless idols,
which made them stumble in their ways,
    in the ancient paths.
They made them walk in byways,
    on roads not built up.
16 Their land will be an object of horror
    and of lasting scorn;
all who pass by will be appalled
    and will shake their heads.
17 Like a wind from the east,
    I will scatter them before their enemies;
I will show them my back and not my face
    in the day of their disaster.”

18 They said, “Come, let’s make plans against Jeremiah; for the teaching of the law by the priest will not cease, nor will counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophets. So come, let’s attack him with our tongues and pay no attention to anything he says.”
19 Listen to me, Lord;
    hear what my accusers are saying!
20 Should good be repaid with evil?
    Yet they have dug a pit for me.
Remember that I stood before you
    and spoke in their behalf
    to turn your wrath away from them.
21 So give their children over to famine;
    hand them over to the power of the sword.
Let their wives be made childless and widows;
    let their men be put to death,
    their young men slain by the sword in battle.
22 Let a cry be heard from their houses
    when you suddenly bring invaders against them,
for they have dug a pit to capture me
    and have hidden snares for my feet.
23 But you, Lord, know
    all their plots to kill me.
Do not forgive their crimes
    or blot out their sins from your sight.
Let them be overthrown before you;
    deal with them in the time of your anger.

Harold Ross started The New Yorker magazine years ago in small offices, with little equipment. One day in a restaurant downstairs he met Dorothy Parker, one of the magazine’s first writers. “What are you doing here?” he asked. “Why aren’t you upstairs working?”

“Somebody was using the pencil,” she explained, “so I came down for some coffee.” (“Bits & Pieces,” [6/84], pp. 23, 24.) From such humble beginnings, The New Yorker has become a famous and widely circulated magazine. Almost everything great had a small beginning. You’ve got to start somewhere!

God can start anything big from something small. For me it began with an "Ah Ha" moment. Like a whirlwind things started coming together and my life began to make sense. I had this new "stand up" on the inside of me. My back got a little straighter. I held my head a little higher. It wasn't pride--it was more like an "I'm gonna be okay." I didn't have to hold my breath anymore. Have you been there? Do you want to go there? It takes work--real, raw, ugly, work. Not at your job, hobby, or sport, but at you--just you. Don't give up on you. You are your greatest asset.

You can begin today. Perhaps a talk with your pastor, counselor, or coach will be the catalyst? For me it was getting a coach. I can be that for you  by going to my website www.renaperozich.com or you can enroll with my coach to take his 83K course, by clicking on the link below. Please use this link as it will tell him I referred you, and you will need to apply, and then Coach Shari will call you. Proverbs 30:25
"Ants are creatures of little strength, yet they store up their food in the summer;"

Proverbs 6:6
"Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise!"

Picture
If you are anything like me you hate to see the end of Summer? I am a Summer girl for sure. I love the outdoors. I love the sun, the water, the fresh foods, the warm nights and early mornings, where I can sit on my porch. But, I also love new beginnings. A long time ago, I decided I was going to embrace all the seasons of the year, and of my life. I used to look at Fall as the beginning of drudgery. I had nothing to look forward to until Spring, after all--everything was dying and Winter was coming; and I wouldn't see the Sun again until Spring. But then, I looked at all of life like that. Life isn't all or nothing. Happy or sad. Good or bad. I failed to be brave enough, to see the positive in all situations; because I was filtering my today though all of my yesterdays. My future was being based on my past.

It has taken a lot of hard work and hugging razor blades, to get me to where I am today. I have have shared many vignettes with you about why I personally have difficulty with change and starting over, but there are also a number of caveats I have yet to share. When dealing with your past be gentle, but firm with yourself. Watch your self-talk. Life is always subject to change, only God changes not; but even He can change His mind, read the stories in Jeremiah 18, Exodus 32, 1 Samuel 15 and Numbers 23. Perhaps, I will share with you more on this topic in the coming days.

If the YouTube video does not show up below, view in your browser, or click here:

ACTION STEP: Today, is the first day of all of your tomorrows. Allow yourself to view today through the lense of your future, not the lense of your past. Stop yourself from using a negative vocabulary, when describing yourself or your situation. Look for opportunities in all your obstacles. Look at what you learned in all your past messes, and see the bigger message that you can now share with others. You are an expert in whatever you came through, that didn't stop you.

Remember the story of Heather Whitestone, the first deaf Miss America? Remember when people told her she'd never make it to Miss America because she'd lost most of her ability to hear at eighteen months? She said, "I wasn't listening. I didn't hear them." Well, when my past screams, "You are unwanted, ugly, stupid..." I refuse to listen, and rather tell myself what the Word of God says about me. I am adopted. I am chosen. I am loved. How about you?

You and I have a few days before a new month begins, and a new season goes into full swing, with Pumpkins, Apple cider, Turkey, Fall foliage and all that Fall brings. Let's look for the good, the pure, the true, the praiseworthy, and admirable,.... We serve a good God and He is for us--not against us.

Happy Fall ya all!

I believe in you and you need to believe in yourself.

2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come."
Picture
You are an expert at what you lived to tell. If you lived through being orphaned, tell your story. If you lived through childhood abuse, neglect, abandonment then tell your story. You and I can bring God glory by sharing our story with others but first we have to take off the childhood glasses and see life through the eyes of God. Let God define what and why, how and what now. This is a process. It does not happen overnight. You may shed a lot of tears before the sting of your past is the salve of your present. The mess you came through can be the mantel you wear today.

What you don't know can be hurting you. I had no idea what made me feel alone in a room full of people. I didn't know why I always felt different, alone, worthless, scattered, driven, hopeless. I still have the feelings arise but I know they are lies. Lies I don't have to believe become fuel for my today and life lines for my tomorrows.

For the next week I am going to do some self-care. I just closed a very intense time pouring into others--now I am going to allow God to pour into me. I continue to do what I tell you to do. Your greatness is in your daily habits.

Galatians 5:19-25
'Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit."

But the Bible says that honesty brings close fellowship and forgiveness (1 John 1:7-10). Being overly fearful is a sign I'm letting my emotions run my life instead of trusting the truth of God's Word. Proverbs 12:15 says the way of the fool is right in his own eyes. God gave us our feelings and emotions for a reason. Living by faith doesn't mean we ignore them. They are not evil by themselves, but what we allow our thoughts to dwell on may be negative and causing an unhealthy overload of negative emotions. In his book, Why Did God Give us Emotions?, Reneau Peurifoy stresses the importance of recognizing how the individual aspects of emotions interconnect. Emotions are complex and mysterious. They can bring us to heights of ecstasy down to the rocks of despair. The book of Isaiah describes Jesus as "a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief" (53:3). But we see later that He was a joyful man, who was happy and celebrated with others. The Bible tells us that he rejoiced (was happy) after His disciples returned from a preaching mission (Luke 10:21).

It’s not foreign to God for humans to have emotions in life, as Jesus famously wept in John 11:35 over the death of His friend Lazarus (who He later brought back to life). The Bible also regularly shares about when God and Jesus were angered by what people did on earth.

However, what does the Bible say about our emotions, primarily how best to handle those feelings we have in ways that are pleasing to God as well as to ourselves?
It is possible to manage these emotions God has gifted us in these bodies. But it is through understanding what emotions are and how we should act with that we are able to manage these unpredictable sensations properly.

This is I know, once I went through life not allowing myself to feel either because I didn't know how or it was too painful, thought of as weak, I never had the time, I didn't think it would do anything but slow me down. I was wrong. I thought I'd be seen as weak. It wouldn't matter. No one would want to be around me. I was wrong. It is true, likes attract. If you want to help people then we must be a real person not a robot that is going through life always trying to help others but not accepting the help we need ourselves.

Our emotions are tied to what we desire or need, and when we feel we may not get those desires and needs fulfilled, we tend to act out in ways that may or may not show us in the best light. However, not all emotions are bad. Some can be used to help others while furthering God’s kingdom.

ACTION STEP: Get the book "Changes that heal" by Dr. Henry Cloud and get the workbook too. Learn the four practical steps to a happier, healthier you.

The Bible states that any emotion (happiness, sorrow, worry) should be brought in prayer to God, as stated in Philippians 4:6-7, for bringing our concerns to God allows His peace and guidance to come to us. 2 Corinthians 10:5 also comes into agreement with Philippians 4, encouraging believers to cast down anything against God’s knowledge (emotions used negatively) in favor of following Jesus’s leadership and judgment (using emotions positively).

Basically, it is conveyed that emotions and feelings can sometimes warp our senses of right and wrong, or completely change them to where innocent people get hurt and/or we are pushed further away from the loving hand of God. God and Jesus also have the same emotions that we have, but the difference in how we handle our emotions compared to the Father and the Son is that neither of them acted out of selfish needs or desires.

Work on you. You are your greatest asset!

I believe in you and you need to believe in yourself.
