Imagine if you will that the words you spoke today would feed the unknown spirits in the places you go. Imagine speaking hurtful, cutting, acidic words meant to destroy yourself or others? What we feed grows. If I feed my body it gets larger. If I feed tomato plants they get larger. Whatever I feed grows. On the other hand imagine yourself speaking the word of God, encouraging others, speaking words of love to sooth and console or complement. Now imagine walking into both of those atmospheres. Where would you rather be?
The Holy Spirit is a person and He longs to be with us but we must create an atmosphere where he is not grieved but feels welcomed.
There is a great book by Frank Damazio titled, “Setting the Spiritual Atmosphere" he discusses ways we purposely and unconsciously set an atmosphere. He explains the influence we as spirit-filled beings have on this earth. Here is an excerpt from his book.
“Every church has its own culture, its own feel, or atmosphere about it. Church culture is the behavior (rituals), values (beliefs), principles (rules) and atmosphere of a group of people. Atmosphere is touched but not always explained. Every person, home, business, church, city, and nation has a unique atmosphere. An atmosphere is a pervading or surrounding influence or spirit, general mood or environment.”
Here is an example of the atmosphere in Heaven:
Revelation 19:1-21 (ESV) “After this I heard what seemed to be the loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, crying out, “Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, for his judgments are true and just; for he has judged the great prostitute who corrupted the earth with her immorality, and has avenged on her the blood of his servants.” Once more they cried out, “Hallelujah! The smoke from her goes up forever and ever.” And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God who was seated on the throne, saying, “Amen. Hallelujah!” And from the throne came a voice saying, “Praise our God, all you his servants, you who fear him, small and great.”
Today let's bring heaven to earth by the atmosphere we create.
