Carrying the weight

Hebrews 12:1
" Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,"

Some weights we can't throw off, they are ours to carry. Growing up I look back now and I carried way too much weight for my little shoulders. I carried the responsibility of raising my four little brothers, trying to make my Daddy happy, and just making good grades and being a typical teen. The weight slowed my growth in some areas of my development, and forced me way ahead in maturity in other areas. The one thing I learned is I could not compare my life with others. Those around me not carrying the weight of abandonment, trauma, broken trust, cooking, cleaning, laundry, homework---and on and on the list can go, were not where I was. They were not carrying what I was carrying. Care is heavy. Responsibility is heavy. But, life has a way of going on and things change. Now, I am able to carry more weight and responsibilities without bending and breaking. I grew strong. I bloomed. I am still blooming. In fact, as I come to terms with my past I am finding I can carry others to the starting line and the finishing line. I am able to be used of God to prune others and pull them ahead.

God never left me during the weight bearing season. He was carrying me at times, and other times allowing me to carry the load while He steadied my hands, and held my heavy heart. He truly made me strong, and when I was weak He was my strength.

I trust Him more today because of His faithfulness in all my yesterdays. There were times when the weight was too much and He came and pruned my blooms. I was sad that I couldn't do and be what others were. I quickly learned that from that experiences of my past, I carry far more blossoms now and though the flower fades, the humbleness, mercy, grace and compassion for others and myself remains.

Embrace your season. God is with you. He will never leave you.

ACTION STEP: Those that compare themselves with others are not wise. Be the best version of you. Let God have His perfect timing with you. Yes, we all have our individual races to run, but life is not a sprint. It is a long and tedious journey; and we never travel alone. God is there to carry our weight when it gets too heavy, and He knows exactly what we are capable of carrying. 

Go ahead and hang in there. Your blooming season will come.
