Perhaps you have guessed I am planning for a road trip; which got me thinking about destination Heaven. For the most part very few people talk to me about what they may need to do to prepare for their eternal destiny. No one asks me what they need to pack or what will they wear. We wear ourselves out preparing for a weeklong trip and never think to prepare for a destination that will last for eternity.
There are a lot of Bible verses about Heaven.
John 14:2-4 (NIV) “2 In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going."
In this verse we learn that Jesus is preparing for our arrival. If He is preparing I think we should be too. We can begin by reading the book of Revelation. Oh, and once you get to your destination—your glad you packed what you need! We are never sorry that we did a great job preparing for where we are headed.
Revelation 22:3-7 (NIV)” 3 No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. 4 They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. 5 There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever. 6 The angel said to me, "These words are trustworthy and true. The Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, sent his angel to show his servants the things that must soon take place."7 "Behold, I am coming soon! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy in this book."
