When I start to have a complaining thought I try to take it captive while it is still in my head before it comes out my mouth. Really? Really. We have refrigerators and can go to the grocery store and purchase a frozen turkey, bring it home and stick it in the refrigerator and we’re going to complain? I didn’t have to go shoot it, pluck it clean it out except for that little white bag of stuff. I can purchase potatoes without having to dig them up and save them. My stuffing comes in a box I simply doctor them up. I think you are getting the idea. Compared to our fore fathers we have very little work to do to feed our families.
It’s the same way with our faith. We have our Bibles. We have the fathers of faith. We have Christian TV. We have CD’s and DVD’s of the most famous faith preachers from all over the word. When we need more faith we can grab up something so fast and begin to feed our faith. Our fore fathers couldn’t do that. Isaiah didn’t have the New Testament. He did not know what we know.
There is never a reason for us not to give thanks. We are blessed in that we have everything we need to be both spiritually and physically well fed. In fact it’s early morning and I’m ready to eat. I am going to go make myself some oatmeal and read where I left off in Daniel. The wonderful thing about it friends is you and I can do the same without any life threatening effort of your own. Be thankful it’s not like that all over the world and one day may cease to be like that here.
