Most of the time when I eat the last thing I am thinking about is glorifying God. I'm sorry to be so un-spiritual but seriously when I am eating I am thinking about how hungry I am or how good or bad my food is, cleaning up, paying the bill, getting to my next stop, what time it is, I mean I am all over the map but I am not on glorifying God. When I read this scripture I knew things had to change. I mean I always pray over my food--I was raised right, well for the most part. So I began to consciously prepare my food to glorify God. You'd be surprised what that looks like. However, it takes discipline.
1 Corinthians 9:27 (ESV) "But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified."
When you realize that God made everything you are about to eat you begin to think about not eating what HE didn't make. Think about it, if you created something you would know best what to feed it, or put in it. Look at this next scripture.
Genesis 1:29 (ESV) "And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food."
Think about this scripture. It does not read He gave us every animal or baked good or man made fish. He said plants that have a seed and fruit from trees. Well I guess that eliminates seedless man made grapes? Oh and man made crap leg looking stuff just to name a few. When you begin to eat like God intended you will begin to feel like God intended.
Challenge for today? Eat like God intended.
