Emotional IOU's

Romans 13:8  (KJV) 
"Owe no man any thing, but to love one another:
​for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law."

In life, we often encounter people who are truly kind people. Then, there are times we encounter people who do something for you, not out of the goodness of their heart,  but because they want to gain a spiritual "IOU" from you. They give in order to get. Sure, sowing and reaping are biblical principles but, it is an act of faith when done out of love. It is an act of manipulation when performed to get. 

People do this with God as well as others. "God if I do this, then you will do (XYZ)." You fill in the (XYZ). It is as though God is some sort of Slot Machine that they believe they can just put in a quarter, and pull the handle. I don't believe these are bad people, don't get me wrong. These are untaught or mis-informed people. God is a God of faith. Faith is the currency of Heaven. Right believing leads to joy and hope. Wrong believing leads to disappointment and discouragement.

ACTION STEP: Today, set people free from any spiritual "IOU's" you may be holding. Find out what God says about the circumstance and situation, and then go to work on believing and living in that way. The word of God will always cause us to live a higher life. God is not into gambling. God is not into slot machine relationships. God is in to blessing you and providing for you because of your relationship with Him. He is a father and He wants to provide, lead, and guide for His children.
