2 Samuel 9:6 (NIV) "When Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came to David, he bowed down to pay him honor. David said, "Mephibosheth!" "At your service," he replied."
When we show honor to others they show us favor. We see this Kingdom Principle over and over again in our Bibles. Abigail showed honor to a soon to be king David and it brought her to the palace. It has been said by many, that beauty may get a man's attention, but it is conversation that will win a man's heart. Abigail understood honor. In contrast her husband, "Nabel the fool" as his name implies refuses to honor the warrior David that protected him, and his domain, and dishonored David. When we dishonor people we cut off the relationship quicker than the speed of sound. Dishonor caused Nabel to lose his life and his wife. Honor will bring you into a persons life and dishonor will remove you from their life. 1 Samuel 2:30 (KJV) Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith, I said indeed [that] thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed. What we honor we attract. Ruth honored Naomi. Boaz took notice of how Ruth honored Naomi. This attracted Boaz to Ruth, and he showed her favor. That favor brought her into her field of dreams, where she met the man of her dreams. Ruth's life was so changed by the honor she showed others, that she is listed in the genealogy of Jesus Christ. Action Step: Who in your life can you honor? David found Mephibosheth from the house of Saul to show honor. When Mephibsheth showed honor to David, in return he found himself at the Kings table. If you don't like your position in life begin to show honor to whom honor is due. Read everywhere the word "honor" is found in the Bible for further study.
