Jeremiah 14:22 Are there any among the vanities of the Gentiles that can cause rain? or can the heavens give showers? art not thou he, O Lord our God? therefore we will wait upon thee: for thou hast made all these things.
A famous preacher John Henry Jowett said, “Preaching that costs nothing accomplishes nothing”. Jeremiah’s preaching has cost Jeremiah dearly; he is pained by his people and unpopular by his message. The theme of his messages has been judgment.
Do you ever struggle as you try to reconcile the concept of God’s love and God’s judgment? Then you are not alone. Jeremiah struggled as well. The Lord will discipline and correct us. Not because He hates us--but because He loves us! The reason God seeks to correct us in part is so we can avoid hurting ourselves or others.
