Yes, I know we join gyms, purchase diet plans, get ourselves a new pair of running shoes annnnnnnnddddddd--nothing changes. The shoes sit in the box, we don't go to the gym and we eat the remainder of the cookies, and candy from Christmas. It's okay. It's only DAY 2 of the New year. It takes time to break old habits and make new ones, but you can do this. There is some truth to the fact, we do better with our Grandchildren than we did with our children. We are more patient, yet more strict. We mean what we say, and are not easily talked into things. We major on the majors, and minor on the minors. We love so deeply, yet we know, we only have a small window of opportunity because we have lived through the stage of the window closing. We have another chance to get it right! Ah, the joy of the second chance. ACTION STEP: Here is where the pastor in me--is going to kick in. You can't do this on your own. Jesus loves you and wants you to succeed, and has sent His Holy Spirit to help you. Let Him. Let go of all the control knobs, and do it yourself ideas, and just pray. Then, pick up that Bible (I know you have one), it's America we all have one, and start reading it! Daily! It matters not, that you think you aren't getting anything, it's archaic, it's too hard to read and pronounce the words--read it anyway. Read it daily. One verse will do. The Word works, only if you work the Word. Oh, and smile. Take it easy on yourself. It is only DAY 2.
