Some commentaries, mainly Jewish say last night, (Wednesday) was the last supper. Catholic commentaries say the last supper is tonight. Whether it was last night or tonight it matters not. What matters is that we remember and we celebrate and we allow the events that took place to change us, to cause us to remember and be grateful.
Today, is the day some record the beheading of John the Baptist. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beheading_of_John_the_Baptist) It is called Maundy money. This was money distributed as alms in conjunction with the ceremony of maundy or on Maundy Thursday. Most commentaries believe Thursday is night (Maundy Thursday) on which Jesus was betrayed by Judas in the Garden of Gethsemane.
People will do almost anything for money. Money is not evil in and of itself rather it is the love of money. God wants us to have money but not to love it--the love is to go to Him the creator of all things, including money.
I also found Maundy is the name of the Christian rite of footwashing, which traditionally occurs during Maundy Thursday church services. Others theorize that the English name "Maundy Thursday" arose from "maundsor baskets" or "maundy purses" of alms which the king of England distributed to certain poor at Whitehall before attending Mass on that day. Thus, "maund" is connected to the Latin mendicare, and French mendier, meaning to beg. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maundy_Thursday)
Regardless, of what is happening in the world we are victorious. We are the kings that the King of Kings will be returning to take with Him. God has made us to rule and reign, not to beg. When we pray we asks in the name of Jesus according to the Word of God and God hears us and He answers us. If you need help getting started I attached a prayer below. I once heard to use your hand to remind you of what you need to pray for. Each finger represents a different topic.
John 13:1-17; John 13:34-35
Lord God,
You sent your Son into the world,
And before his hour had come,
He washed his disciples’ feet.
You had given all things into his hands.
He had come from you, and was going to you,
And what did he do?
He knelt down on the floor,
And washed his friends’ feet.
He was their teacher and their Lord,
Yet he washed their feet.
Lord God, help us learn from his example;
Help us to do as he has done for us.
The world will know we are his disciples
If we love one another.
Strengthen our hands and our wills for love
And for service.
Keep before our eyes the image of your Son,
Who, being God, became a Servant for our sake.
All glory be to him who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
One God, now and forever.
Amen.
