We all need to be loved. When we are young we often had our feelings hurt by those who weren't intentionally trying to hurt us, let me explain. Do you remember picking teams to play ball and no one picked you? You knew you were lousy at baseball but never the less your feelings got hurt as you were the last one picked. They had to take you; you were the only one left. Well I have good news for you. God chose you. He chose you before the foundations of the world. He thinks you are pretty special. He didn't pick you last He chose you before you were even born.
Often times we get down and think nothing is going well. We can't do this or that and we are really bad at _________ (fill in the blank) whatever is left. The fact of the matter is we all have our strengths and weaknesses this is true, but that has nothing to do with how much God loves us. God does not love us for what we can do but for who we are. When you feel picked out, not picked on, everything changes. We hold our head a little higher and we carry ourselves with more confidence. The extra boost of confidence causes us to smile and be more open to others. We start to make connections, friends, and the next thing you know we get a promotion, a raise, a new relationship blossoms, life is good. The ole' song we sang was, "Don't worry, be happy." Happiness is a choice we make. I saw a cartoon on Facebook of an egg and a potato both in hot water. The caption read, “It’s what we are made of that determines what happens when we find ourselves in hot water.”
Today choose to be happy. Rejoice over the fact that God chose you. Now choose Him.
Joshua 25:15 (NIV) "But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD."
