Proverbs 13:20 (ESV) “Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.”
If friends are so influential why aren’t we taught on the subject and more selective on the company we keep? Because we tend to pick friends that allow us to be comfortable rather than those that contend with us or challenge us. We want our flesh comfortable so many times we compromise to keep what we will inevitably lose if we do not confront. For whatever we compromise to keep we will lose. It is best to be uncomfortable and challenged that comfortable and poor, or uneducated, or a person of low character. When we have friends in order to keep them we have to invest in them and vice versa.
Psalm 55:12-14 (ESV) “For it is not an enemy who taunts me— then I could bear it; it is not an adversary who deals insolently with me— then I could hide from him. But it is you, a man, my equal, my companion, my familiar friend. We used to take sweet counsel together; within God's house we walked in the throng’s”
Let’s be found building one another up and pushing one another to the mark of the High Calling in Christ Jesus.
