The 33rd President of the United States faced tumultuous years at the close of World War II with great determination, fortitude, and, grit that made him a hero of his day. Besides serving as a captain in World War I he was also a judge and a senator before becoming the Vice President. After Franklin D. Roosevelt died Truman was faced with some of the most difficult decisions in U.S. history. Perhaps this is why he called for a National Day of Prayer. Prayer still changes things. It may help us to be bold and give us wisdom in our decision making or it may cause others to go in a different direction but it will do something.
Truman helped arrange for Germany's unconditional surrender, brought an end to the war in the Pacific by using the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. He is also credited with the forming of (NATO) the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and implementing the Marshall Plan for economic recovery in Western Europe.
God has always had men and women that will call upon His name in times of trouble. "Actions are seeds of fate. Deeds grown into destiny." ~Harry S. Truman Who knows if we have been born for this day. The choices you and I make will determine the America our children and grand children inherit. "America was not built on fear. America was built on courage, on imagination and an unbeatable determination to do the job at hand.
Today our job at hand is to pray. Pray for those in government.
