I am so enjoying reading quotes from a book a friend gave my husband. The title of the book is "Great Quotes from Great Leaders" compiled by Peggy Anderson. However, of all the quotes that I have read I have enjoyed the quotes of Mother Teresa the most.
She also said, "I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts, there can be no more hurt." When I read this I thought of Jesus. The ultimate sacrifice that loved until it hurt was modeled by our Savior. So many of her quotes are exactly what I imagine Jesus saying and doing. She also said, "If you can't feed a hundred people, then feed just one."
Mother Teresa died in 1997. Her selfless commitment to helping the poor saved the lives of nearly 8,000 people in Calcutta, India alone. She won a Nobel Peace Prize in 1979. She encourages me to give until it hurts. To try until I can't try any longer and then get up and try again tomorrow. Yes, I know I can't do everything but I can do something.
For today let's practice this one quote of her's alone, "Words which do not give the light of Christ increase the darkness." Speak light. Speak love. Speak truth.
