Have you seen the new Toy Story 4? It has so many hidden meanings that only an adult can appreciate. Truly, if you are pastoral or have a mercy motive, you will totally understand what I am referring to. I certainly don't want to ruin the movie for anyone, but I will say the love story, the giving your life to help others have a life, and trying to salvage people, are all strong themes in this new movie.
Sometimes we can be more comfortable living a life that is beneath the purposes for which we were created. How many times do we find ourselves comfortable in places we know we shouldn't be? When life gets hard or situations make us uncomfortable where do we run? Forky ran to the Trash Can because that's where he came from. I get it. We all came from trash (sin). But, just like Woody kept chasing Forky to keep him out of the trash, the Holy Spirit speaks to us, chases us through our conscience and refuses to let go of us.
There is a part in the movie that is so good. In this simple children's story Woody is having a conversation with Buzz Light Year. Buzz doesn't understand the inner voice of the Holy Spirit. Woody explains to Buzz, it's like his own voice inside of him. Later in the movie, Buzz finds that inner voice. Have you ever heard God speak to you? When that happened, did you listen and obey? The reason I ask, is that when we ignore the voice of the Holy Spirit long enough we go spiritually deaf. If that has happened to you, repent. Ask God to speak to you again. This time obey immediately, and you will find you can experience an ongoing conversation with God.

In one part of the movie Woody is trying to explain to Forky that he's not trash. He tells Forky, "A name is written on the bottom of your shoe, that means you are loved and you belong to someone. You are special." Our name is written in the Lamb's book of Life. We matter. We matter to God. We may be different than others, but we are God's, should we choose to accept Jesus as our Savior. Forky had to realize he mattered. When he realized he mattered to someone, his choices changed! He wasn't comfortable among trash any longer. His desires changed. He desired to spend his life with those that loved him.
God cleans us up. He lifts us out of our trash, because He loves us.

ACTION STEP: Do you realize that you are not trash. You belong to God. God gave His son instead of leaving us to live a life of trash. Jesus got us out by coming to save us. Listen for the voice of your creator today. Hear what He has planned for you. Go get others out of the trash can of life and do your best to keep them from returning by sharing your testimony.
