Finish what you start. Jesus is the author and the finisher. He is our model. I plan to get rid of that purse. My word to pay my bills on time is a reflection of my character. I mailed them out and plan to pay the penalties. It's a lesson learned. Painful but memorable. How about you? Got any unfinished business? | 2 Corinthians 8:11 ESV "So now finish doing it as well, so that your readiness in desiring it may be matched by your completing it out of what you have." Philippians 1:6 ESV " And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ." Ecclesiastes 7:8 ESV "Better is the end of a thing than its beginning, and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit." |
So in my rush over the holidays I sat down and paid all my bills. I put stamps on the envelopes and then we had to hurry out of town for a funeral. I never gave those bills a second thought until today. There were three sections to that very expensive Coach Purse. I will never use again. I was in the center section a million times. I never really bothered with those other two sections, until today. Those bills I paid back in December were still in there. One was due today. So I made a mad rush to the store only to find out that they do not take payments at the store. The other one was due the 7th. Needless to say this was an expensive mistake on my part. I was angry. Disappointed. But it got me thinking. How many times do we start a task and think we will finish it only to find out we never followed through? Worst yet we know we didn't finish the task to completion but out of sight--out of mind. Those things we met to take care of have a way of creeping back up into our future only to cost us more.
