Psalm 63:1-5 (KJV) " O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; 2 To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.3 Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.4 Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name. 5 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:
Before anyone touches the fresh fallen snow and the sun begins to rise, I love how beautiful my little world looks. Years ago I would have written, "I love how the world looks". Now that I am older and wiser I realize what I see is just a very small piece of the world. God however does see it all. He sees everything we do that is of a pure motive and clean heart. God also sees everything that is not of a clean heart and pure motives. He sees the big picture of all that we are and all that we do. When Paul was writing to the Romans he shared a common challenge among believers so I can only imagine what it must be like for those that are still in need of a Savior and are not filled with the Holy Spirit and the power that He brings.
Romans 7:15 (NLT) "I don't really understand myself, for I want to do what is right, but I don't do it. Instead, I do what I hate."
Psalm 51:10 (NLT) Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me."
King David knew the challenge. This Psalm was written after Nathan the prophet came to him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba. David knew the beautiful clean look and feel of fresh fallen snow before it is touched and he also knew the aftermath and he looks to God to fix what he can not.
I don't know what the world is going through, but God does. I don't even know what you are going through this morning, but God does. I pray this morning that you have the heart of David where you can look at yourself and ask God to give you a new clean heart and the power to do what you know is right. He is a good God and He longs to give us what is best for us.
It really is a good morning to praise Him no matter what state we find ourselves. It can be a spiritual snow day. Everything can become clean and white all over again.
