Sometimes you gotta hurt to heal

“Our wounds are often the openings into the best and most beautiful part of us.”

If you would have told me how painful this journey to self discovery would have been, I would have set out anyway. I would have started anyway. I would have got the coach anyway. I would have done all the hard work anyway. I truly did not know me--the real me. I thought I knew me. I was the one everyone needed. I was the one that could get it done. I was the one that you could count on. But, who was I counting on? Sure, I knew Jesus as my Savior. I even went a step further. I made Jesus as my Lord and Master. But, I refused to know me. The hurt little girl in the grown up body that still felt like a nobody. I refused to get to know that young mother, with more pain than she could utter; yet was admired for all they said mattered. The perfect daughter. The faithful friend. The trying hard Christian. The making it work no matter what wife. But, inside alone, lonely, frightened and battling, always feeling less than and never good enough.

When the revelation came it cut like a knife. I tried to dodge the pain, but was naked with no where to run. I had no accusers, just "once been there too losers now winners", telling me I could do this. I will always be grateful for that first class...a class I took to find out how to help others--set me on the path to self-discovery to love and get to know me.
ACTION STEP: Tell the people you love today that you are there for them. We are all in the process. We are born to die. We are born to learn to endure the journey to get to the finish line. Get there holding up the hand of the hero's all around you, that almost didn't make it, and fell down but got back up. Quit but started again. Quit what's holding you in a place you know you don't belong.

Today, I am letting go of a bad knee for a good knee.
