When he opened the cabinets he stuck his hand in one and yelped, and jumped back. He came and sat down at the table with a solemn look on his face. Of course I knew what had happened, but he never spoke a word. Then, I asked him, "What happened? Did you get your fingers hurt in the trap?" "Yes", he said. We proceeded to give him a lesson on the whys and hows of mouse traps, using a pencil. (You should have seen his eyes when the pencil broke.)
Once we had a discussion with our little man about the why's and how's of mouse traps, we knew he was safe from the the mouse traps forever. In actuality, it was one we had long forgotten about. I called the exterminator and we hadn't thought about that trap. Which reminds us how the devil leaves traps around our life in hopes that we will forget about them. The devil hopes no one will teach us about mouse traps. But, people who love people teach people.
