G.K. Chesterton called gratitude ''the mother of all virtues''. One of the most significant changes that Jesus Christ wants to make in our hearts and lives is to transform us into people who are continually grateful.
Psalm 30:11-12 says:
''You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, that my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent. Lord my God, I will praise you forever.

I am listening to, "Living Life as a Thank You: The Transformative Power of Daily Gratitude" by Nina Lesowitz. I must admit you will have to chew up the meat and spit out the fat. There are several great quotes. She lost me often but I trotted through it and had several thought provoking moments. It did cause me to think more about being grateful, giving thanks, and our most simple actions and words make a huge difference in the lives of others. We are never alone and may be entertaining angels unaware.
Corrie Ten Boom in The Hiding Place relates an incident that taught her an important principle. She and her sister, Betsy, had just been transferred to the worst German prison camp they had seen yet, Ravensbruck.
Upon entering the barracks, they found them extremely overcrowded and flea-infested. Their Scripture reading that morning in 1 Thessalonians had reminded them to rejoice always, pray constantly, and give thanks in all circumstances. Betsy told Corrie to stop and thank the Lord for every detail of their new living quarters. Corrie at first flatly refused to give thanks for the fleas, but Betsy persisted. She finally succumbed.
During the months spent at that camp, they were surprised to find how openly they could hold Bible study and prayer meetings without guard interference. It was several months later when they learned that the guards would not enter the barracks because of the fleas.

ACTION STEP: Refuse to complain. Every time you catch yourself complaining turn it into thanksgiving. Take the challenge to give thanks daily. Celebrate life in the little things not just the big events. Shift your thinking to what makes you glad to be alive. Enjoy your journey. Who does not thank for little will not thank for much.
