"Jesus said to him, “If you really want to be perfect, go immediately and sell everything you own. Give all your money to the poor and your treasure will be transferred into heaven. Then come back and follow me for the rest of your life.”
Sorry this is a little late. It's only 9:15AM but the Blog posts at 9AM. I have my two little men with me and our walk together, took longer than I expected. We kept having a rock in our shoe. Interesting, that a small thing can make such a big problem. It reminded me of the man that wanted to know how to get in to heaven. He believed he had done everything necessary to prepare for his journey. However, Jesus knew there was one small problem. The man had a rock in his soul. That rock was greed. The rock of money was hindering his journey. Jesus told him to go sell all he had. This rock in his soul was going to keep him from his destiny, or at least perhaps delay him. Rocks in our soul can hurt. They can cause a sudden stop. Matthew 19:21 TPT "Jesus said to him, “If you really want to be perfect, go immediately and sell everything you own. Give all your money to the poor and your treasure will be transferred into heaven. Then come back and follow me for the rest of your life.” "Then." Then, is such a big word. It means that we need to take an action before anything else transpires. It is much like the word "If." If and then are two words that God uses frequently. Over and over again in scripture we find that those two words are like rocks in our shoes; they either hinder our walk or stop us all together. ACTION STEP: What is hindering you from following Jesus? What is the "Rock" in your shoe? Whatever it is, take the time today to get it out. Sure, it may slow you down a bit, but those that love you--won't mind waiting.
