How you and I handle the storms of life will determine to a great extent how we live the remainder of our Christian life. Perhaps you need to stop now and ask Jesus to forgive you of sin and make him Lord of your Life, The Captain of your ship. The Lifeboat!
One of the wonderful things about our connection to Christ is that we can feel it. In a ship you can feel the pull of the anchor and the more the wind rages, the more you feel the anchor pulling with opposite force.
The following is an illustration I recently read.
Like the boy flying his kite. He let the string out so far that he could no longer see the kite. A woman walked by, looked up and seeing nothing, asked the boy if he was sure he had a kite on the line. “Yes, Ma’am.” he replied. “How do you know for sure?” she asked. “Because I can feel it tugging on the line!” he said.
When storms hit a ship, the force of the wind only forces the anchor deeper into the seabed. The more the ship drags, the tighter its hold becomes. Similarly, when we face trials and tests, they force us deeper into the things of God – and what the devil means for bad turns into good!
I hope that wherever you are in your journey with Christ; whether you are just leaving the dock, or you have been at sea for a while; you will see Him as your anchor. I hope that you can see how God will use others to show you this. If you are struggling with this, find one safe person, a pastor or a staff member or another person that you can be safe with and share a little bit of yourself. You may be surprised to see how God will use you in their life and how He can become your anchor a little bit more fully each day.
Together we will push off from shore and study how to safely chart a course on the high seas this week. We will delve into the deep with The Four Anchors:(1) God (2) Faith (3) Ship (4) Meat/Provision. A ship without an anchor, will never leave the dock. Are you ready to set sail?
Looking for fellowship? You are welcome to join the crew of one of our Lifeboats (small house meetings) on the second and fourth Sunday evenings of the month.
