Ahhhh what a beautiful day when you watch two people so in love become one. I was honored to be numbered among the guests. Much preparation had taken place. A great cost had been paid. Meals had been prepared and flowers expertly arranged. The time was now. As family and friends surrounded the beautiful couple it reminded me of the soon to be “Marriage Supper of the Lamb”.
Revelation 19:6-9 (ESV) ”6 Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the roar of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying out, “Hallelujah! For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns.7 Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready; 8 it was granted her to clothe herself with fine linen, bright and pure”--for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints.9 And the angel said[a] to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are the true words of God.”
As the ocean behind us roared I thought of the commandment of God found in Genesis. “…be fruitful and multiply…” (Genesis 1:28)
For almost 40 years I have been married. We have been blessed with three beautiful daughters. I have learned that whatever God commands us to do will bring us joy and safety. God is a good God. His desire is for us to prosper and be in health even as our soul prospers. (3 John 1:2) Even through trials and tribulations He is with us.
1 Peter 5:10 ESV “And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.” Today enjoy life. Today enjoy family. Today celebrate the fact that there is a wedding coming and you are in it.
