I am not always so teachy nor do I usually use so much scripture, however today is 8/8/18. Numbers always mean a lot to me. The number 8 has to do with "New Beginnings". There is no greater new beginning than that of being born again. By born again I am referring to being born of the Spirit. If you already know Jesus as your Lord and Savior then tuck these away for a time when the Lord would have you share them with someone. Or go ahead. Forward this to someone you care about.
We were all born sinners because we were all born of Adam. We all have a past that in order for it to be just that, our past--we must do something to change the present. This means no matter how good I am, or how much good I do, I can not save myself, nor change my future. I needed a Savior. Jesus is the savior of the world. I made Him my personal savior. As I grew in my faith I later made Him my Lord. Check out these scriptures to help you understand why we needed a savior or check them out so you can share them with a loved one.
- (Romans 3:23) "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."
- (Ecclesiastes 7:20) "For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not."
- (Isaiah 64:6) "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away."
- (Romans 3:10) "As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:"
- (James 2:10) "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all."
- (1John.1:8) "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us."
- (Ephesians 2:8,9 ) "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast."
- (Mark 10:25-27) " It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. {26} And they were astonished out of measure, saying among themselves, Who then can be saved? {27} And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible."
- (Romans 3:20) "Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin."
- (Romans 11:6) "And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work."
- (Galatians 2:16) "Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified."
- (2 Timothy 1:9) "Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,"
- (Titus 3:5) "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;"
Once we understand these scriptures it is easy to see how much Jesus loves us. Once we are loved it is easier to admit our shortcomings and reach our to receive the gift of salvation. This gift guarantees that you will never be extinct--you will live forever in eternity with Jesus, among so many other things that I want to share with you.
