Most of us are about to embark on a fast. That being said we are cleaning out all the junk food from our homes and filling our refrigerators with fresh fruits and vegetables. But what about filling our spirit man with the word of God. Fasting without prayer is just a diet of which the first 3 letters spell "die". If we want the results that real fasting brings then we have got to seek God and pray during these 21 days. We need to put God first. I am not looking forward to not eating starting tomorrow but I am focused on what I will be gaining not what I will be doing without. Setting my mind and heart on His purposes and desires will be what I am putting in not food. So I hope this helps you all prepare for tomorrow.

A new year ... a fresh, clean start! It's like having a big white sheet of paper to draw on! A day full of possibilities! That will last a year. "Wow, have you seen Ralph?" "No why? He has lost at least a hundred pounds. He looks great, and so much younger." "Oh her? She finished her book and it became a best seller." "Their marriage is better than ever." "Oh he said they were out of debt!" "They got married and are expecting their first baby!" "They met Jesus and everything changed for them. Someone told me they just built a house." These could be you. All new beginnings all positive statements. God gives us time and what we do with it is up to us. We just turned a calendar page. Unlike a leaf once we turn it twice we are right back where we started. A new year does not allow us to go back to the way it was; but because time can not be captured it forces us to move ahead whether the direction is good or bad. I encourage you to read a good book. If you need a few suggestions write me. Start with the Bible. So what if it is a BIG BOOK. Read a page a day. Read a sentence a day. You have a lifetime to complete it. And it is now about getting through the book. It is about getting the book through you. Start to walk. Just a few minutes a day....everyday. Begin to fast. One day a week till noon. Ah, come on. Just start to do something different. You know you are bored anyway! And if your not bored you want a challenge. Challenge yourself! “I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You're doing things you've never done before, and more importantly, you're Doing Something. So that's my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody's ever made before. Don't freeze, don't stop, don't worry that it isn't good enough, or it isn't perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life. Whatever it is you're scared of doing, Do it. "The object of a new year is not that we should have a new year. It is that we should have a new soul." G.K. Chesterton If you are reading this and you are in the Morgantown, West Virginia area I invite you to our Wednesday night services beginning this week at 7PM in our Youth Buiding 2160 Blue Horizon Drive at 7PM. I will be begginning a new series on "Livestronger". Make this year your best yet! Isaiah 40:30-31 (NIV) "30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; 31but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
