-Henry David Thoreau
When I read this scripture, I thought about the expectations that God has for our lives. He had an expectation for Jeremiah before he was born, even while he was being formed in his mothers womb. God expects us to fulfill our call. God created us for a purpose. When we are fulfilling the purposes of God we bring God great joy. The Bible says that, the Lord rejoices in the prosperity of His saints. Well, I want to make the Lord really, really, rejoiceful! Okay, so maybe I had to make up a word there, but I am sure you get my point. I do not want to disappoint or bring my Father God grief or sorrow.
In the same way, I believe we are to expect the best of others. If we expect the best of others sure, we may be disappointed. However, if we expect nothing we will get nothing. I expect my God will do what His word says. His word never fails me. Through His power, I can do all things. This means that even the hard things--will be accomplished when I put my trust in Him.
Don't let culture or circumstances knock the hope out of you. Breathe. Breathe deeply into your very soul the words of life. God will have His way. God will make a way. God will move what gets in my way. I have high expectations that in Christ it is all going to be okay.
