How can you tell what you truly love?

When we love someone we know what they love and what they desire. We don't fall in love with strangers. We have to get to know someone before we begin to love them. Some people don't love God because they don't know God. They have never hung out with God. They don't know God. So, how can we obey someone we don't know and don't love? We honor our marriage vows and keep them because we love. When we love God we will obey Him. When we love God more that anyone or anything we obey Him. God has given us the power, the right, the authority through Jesus Christ to become sons and daughters of God. We are a family. We have blessings and rights that the children of this world do not even know exist. Find out what is rightfully yours by reading your Bible.
Picture
2 Peter 1:3  His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.
Picture
At Calvary a divine exchange took place. Jesus became a curse so we could become a blessing. We can be saved and still have a lot of issues.

This is not a heaven or hell matter. What I want everyone to know is we can be free from Generational Curses, weaknesses that have been handed down through the generations. Jesus shed His bold for those weaknesses and bends in each one of us.

Action Step:  Spend time with God. Spend time getting the Word of God inside of you.  Once you know what Jesus did for you, you will never be the same. You will fall in love with Jesus. You will want to share the love of Jesus. Your entire life will never be the same.

When God asks you to sacrifice an answered prayer you are moving into a new season of blessing!!!!

Genesis 22:11-13 But the angel of the Lord called out to him from heaven, “Abraham! Abraham!”“Here I am,” he replied. “Do not lay a hand on the boy,” he said. “Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son.” Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son.

Sometimes God will ask you to give back your answered prayer!
Picture
Every Promised Land has warfare in it! Storms can be an indicator you are in the center of the will of God.

Matthew 14:22-24 Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd.  After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone,  and the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it.

When you meet a giant you have reached your destination. Spiritual warfare is the result of the enemy discovering God’s intention for your life.

Genesis 22:14-18 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the Lord it shall be seen. And the angel of the Lord called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time, And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the Lord, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.

God will be more than enough in your life when you are willing to give Him your answered prayer. Whatever you give to God He will multiply.
Picture
Action Step: If you have a need, give God something to work with. Give God everything you've got. He gave you everything anyway. If God got it to you once He can do it again!

A woman’s beauty will get a man’s attention, but her conversation will win his heart.

God anoints the wise with humble words that disarm the wrath of men.
Proverbs 15:1 (KJV) A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

Disrespect ends relationships faster than the speed of sound.
Picture
1 Samuel 25:39 (KJV) And when David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, Blessed be the LORD, that hath pleaded the cause of my reproach from the hand of Nabal, and hath kept his servant from evil: for the LORD hath returned the wickedness of Nabal upon his own head. And David sent and communed with Abigail, to take her to him to wife.

Learn to speak the language of Kings and you will get invited to palaces.
Picture
Action Step: Learn the language of the Kingdom. Honor those in authority. Speak to the greatness in others not the warrior in them. Never underestimate the power of honor.
Teach your children to be respectful, and to honor those older them, and to honor those whom you honor.

What's your Jordan?

Naaman comes from the Hebrew verb naem, “be delightful, pleasant, beautiful.” It has the idea of “gracious” or “well formed.” Because of the significance of names in Scripture, this tells us something about the man. His name suggests he had undoubtedly had been a handsome man, at least before the leprosy, (before sin entered into him). Further, the implication is that he was also a gracious and delightful man. But his name became a reproach and a striking contrast to his appearance and probably also to his disposition because of the leprosy (symbolic of sin), which had attacked his body. It provides a striking picture of mankind created physically and spiritually beautiful in God’s image before sin began to take it’s toll on both the disposition and physical body of man. However, once we became sin by one man Adam, we must be cleansed of sin by one man, the new Adam--Jesus Christ.

We can't see through muddy waters. The waters have been muddied in our lives due to the fall of man. But Jesus, can make all things clean. Jesus can open blind eyes. Jesus can wash away our sin. To the pure all things are pure-to the evil all things are evil.

Jordan was where Jesus was baptized by John. The Jordan was always needing to be crossed over. Jordan means to descend or to flow down. When we lower ourselves the anointing we so desperately need flows down.
Picture
What is your Jordan? What is the thing that God has told you to do--that you are refusing to do? What is it that you feel is beneath you? What is it, that you won't do because you feel, think or believe, that you are too good for? What make you think that the Jordan is a less than you deserve? Your thinking God should have asked you to do something bigger and better than the Jordan, but your ability to see is in your ability to obey.
2 Kings 5:14 (NIV) So he went down and dipped himself in the Jordan seven times, as the man of God had told him, and his flesh was restored and became clean like that of a young boy.
Action Step: Our God is not a God of, "Let's Make A Deal". God is a sovereign God.
He chooses His words exactly as He means to say them. If God has told you to do or not to do anything, don't try to make a deal. Instead obey what He has told you, so that  you will recover your sight and begin to live free from sin. Jesus came down. Jesus lowered Himself. Let's follow Jesus that our healing and sight will manifest and flow down.

Change your focus and you can change your life.

God wants to interrupt your life with abundance!!!! Focusing on your circumstances will blind you from your future.
Picture
The fastest way to change your emotions is to change your focus.

What you believe and how you see affects you and those around you. God had a very different plan for this woman and her son than what she saw.

1 Kings 17:13-14 Elijah said to her, “Don’t be afraid. Go home and do as you have said. But first make a small loaf of bread for me from what you have and bring it to me, and then make something for yourself and your son. For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the Lord sends rain on the land."

Change always starts with a decision. If you can live with yourself the way you are, you are probably not going to change.

Picture
This woman’s life was interrupted by the Word of God! I believe that is what God is doing right now. The Word of God contains your future. Every new beginning starts with a new word!

Action Step: Do the last thing God told you to do! He is thinking about you, even when you are not thinking about Him.

When you are ready to obey God you are ready for a new season.

When you are ready to obey God you are ready for a new season. Location is  important to God. There is always a place for a breakthrough. When God tells you to get up and go to a place it is always for a reason. Obey Him and go.
  • For Elijah is was the place the ravens would feed him.
  • For Saul it was the city of Damascus where a prophet would speak.
  • For Elisha it was next to his mentor’s mantle to receive a double portion.
  • For Abraham it was when he went up to worship and heard the voice of God and God provided a Ram in the thicket.
  • For Naaman there was a river that provided healing.
  • For Ruth there was a field where she would meet the man of her dreams.
Picture
Are you where you are supposed to be? Ruth had to move from Moab to Judah. Do you need to move from a place of death to a place of praise!!!

Favor is often found in the unfamiliar. Ruth did not have to leave the familiar but she loved Naomi. All permanent change starts with a decision.

Action Step: Get up and go to a place God is calling you. Refuse to stay in the familiar. Get connected with those that are in your future place of destiny.

Stinking thinking and the thoughts of God don't match.

Stop thinking about where you have been and start thinking about where you are going. God has already planned out your future.
Picture
The woman of Zarephath was so beaten up by her circumstances she was ready to give up and die. What she didn’t know was God had already spoken into her future.

(1 Kings 17:8-12) 8 Then the word of the Lord came to him: 9 ‘Go at once to Zarephath in the region of Sidon and stay there. I have instructed a widow there to supply you with food.’ 10 So he went to Zarephath. When he came to the town gate, a widow was there gathering sticks. He called to her and asked, ‘Would you bring me a little water in a jar so I may have a drink?’ 11 As she was going to get it, he called, ‘And bring me, please, a piece of bread.’12 ‘As surely as the Lord your God lives,’ she replied, ‘I don’t have any bread – only a handful of flour in a jar and a little olive oil in a jug. I am gathering a few sticks to take home and make a meal for myself and my son, that we may eat it – and die.

Halleluiah! God’s plans are better than ours!  Honor God by honoring those He has put in your life!!! In Him we live and move and have our being!

God is thinking about you even when you are not thinking about Him!

Favor from one person can change your life.

When we show honor to others they show us favor. We see this Kingdom Principle over and over again in our Bibles. Abigail showed honor to a soon to be king David and it brought her to the palace. It has been said by many, that beauty may get a man's attention, but it is conversation that will win a man's heart. Abigail understood honor. In contrast her husband, "Nabel the fool" as his name implies refuses to honor the warrior David that protected him, and his domain, and dishonored David. When we dishonor people we cut off the relationship quicker than the speed of sound. Dishonor caused Nabel to lose his life and his wife. Honor will bring you into a persons life and dishonor will remove you from their life.
Picture
1 Samuel 2:30 (KJV) Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith, I said indeed [that] thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.
Picture
What we honor we attract. Ruth honored Naomi. Boaz took notice of how Ruth honored Naomi. This attracted Boaz to Ruth, and he showed her favor. That favor brought her into her field of dreams, where she met the man of her dreams. Ruth's life was so changed by the honor she showed others, that she is listed in the genealogy of Jesus Christ.
Picture
Action Step: Who in your life can you honor? David found Mephibosheth from the house of Saul to show honor. When Mephibsheth showed honor to David, in return he found himself at the Kings table. If you don't like your position in life begin to show honor to whom honor is due. Read everywhere the word "honor" is found in the Bible for further study.

2 Samuel 9:6 (NIV) "When Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came to David, he bowed down to pay him honor. David said, "Mephibosheth!" "At your service," he replied."

Divine Conversations

6/4/2018

Picture
All through the Bible we see men and women who have a divine conversation with God, that changes their lives forever. Mary had a divine conversation, and ended up pregnant by the Holy Spirit. Abraham had a divine conversation, and ended up a father at 100 years old. Then, because of listening to another instruction given to him in a divine conversation, was spared killing that same son.

Conversations are life changers, or at least can be. Conversations can bring you favor, or death, depending on the instructions given, and whether they are obeyed or disobeyed. Naaman had a divine conversation, and almost lost his healing by not obeying the Word of the Lord spoken through the prophet. Thank God for a little hand maiden, who offered a word of wisdom that changed his mind. For when he dipped in the Jordan 7 times he was cleansed from his leprosy. Leprosy is symbolic on sin. The power of sin is broken in our lives when we submit our will, to the will of God.

Picture
The instruction you obey will determine the blessings you receive. Obedience is a choice.

  • Naaman dipped in the Jordan 7 times after (his wife’s little handmaiden used wisdom as to how to get Naaman to obey the prophet Elisha) 2 Kings 5:10
  • In 1 Kings 17:12 we find obedience, took a woman from lack, to enough to last through a famine. And I read: “And she said, As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but a handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.
  • What we focus on, is what we get. Elisha focused on the Mantle, and when Elijah went up, Elisha got the mantle. He got the double he asked for.

Following instruction given by those God places in our life, show God our Father honor.  Our life is the result of how we respond to God’s instruction.
Picture
When we learn to obey God because we love Him everything changes. Change is a choice.
Action Step: What was the last thing God told you to do? Who was the last person you listened to? When God wants to speak to you, He sends a person into your life. What you and I do with what we hear, is up to us. We have what we pursue.

The Kingdom and the Gospel~"We" verses "Me" mentality.

6/1/2018

Me versus we. We live in a culture, a day in our age where everyone is an individual. We have a "me" mentality. How is this or that going to affect me? "I" can figure this out on my own. "I" know what to do. "I" don't have to ask anybody. "I" want to do my own thing.

I recently read that before the printing press was invented everyone came to their spiritual leader or head and asked for wisdom concerning decisions or had a discussion with the person God had ordained to be in their life to lead and guide them. Today, this is almost unheard of.

In order to grow we need people in our life. People that love and care for people are not afraid to correct, instruct or manage others. People that love others take chances that those they correct, instruct, and manage, may leave or run from them. This is the chance we take as leaders and feeders of the Word of God. If the people we lead have a "Growth Mindset" this will not be hard or painful. However, if those the Lord puts into our lives have a "Fixed Mindset", it can be extremely hard and painful for both of us.

Picture
Proverbs 23:9 (KJV) "Speak not in the ears of a fool: for he will despise the wisdom of thy words."
Action Step: Ask yourself if you are a teachable person. A teachable person is a reachable person. Consider who you have in your life that you allow to speak truth, correction, and instruction? If there is no one in your life that has access into your life, ask yourself if you are open for God to bring someone into your life to shepherd and/or pastor you? Everybody needs somebody.
Picture
Matthew 6:34 (KJV) "And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things."
Here is a great video about the Sheep and the Shepherds relationship. https://vimeo.com/13337668
This is by Pastor Dr. David Ireland. It is powerful and instructive.
