 2 Timothy 4 NIV
"Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage--with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine."
Picture
The Mission Trip starts long before the wheels go up. It starts with everyday decisions we make. Here is the list of decisions I have had to make:

1. No pets we are not home nearly enough. Between Puppy Daycare, doggy sitters, food and walks, we made the decision that it was not fair to the dog, cat, or even a bird. The critter would miss us too much.

2. When I purchase a piece of clothing I ask myself, "Will this travel well? Can I wear it over seas? How heavy is it? If it weighs too much will I be able to take it?" These are just a few questions I ask before I allow myself to buy it. Most of my clothing is black, very light weight snd travels well with no ironing needed.

3. Can my house be left for long periods of time? Who will do lawn? Water plants? What about up keep? So, we are minimalist. We don't have a lot of yard ornaments, knick knacks, indoor plants, wood that needs painted, etc. Our gutters and doors are all metal, including awnings etc. We have limited shrubs.

4. When preparing sermons I ask myself could someone in another country understand. I keep the ones that are travel suitable in a separate document folder.

5. When purchasing books and music I purchase on Audible, Spotify, etc.  This was they can go with me. I can listen while flying and once again I do not have to pack.

6. For Christmas and Birthdays I ask for gifts that make travel easier. A travel blow dryer, suitcases with wheels that roll 360 degrees, travels pouches, antimicrobial packing towel, flash light, phone and passport case, adapters, etc. Here is a link for things that are really beneficial:
http://preparemymission.com/packing-101/
ACTION STEP: If God has laid it upon your heart to travel and share the gospel, start planning today. Begin to live like you're leaving now. Take a look a your life and daily routine and ask yourself what needs to change? Can you live out of a suitcase for two weeks? Do you own one? Do you have a Passport? Do you have a vaccination record for International Travel? Do you have a cosmetics or toiletry bag packed with travel size shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, etc.?

What does your Bible look like? Could you lead someone to the Lord? Are the scriptures marked clearly in your Bible? Can you tell the story of Jesus by heart? Why do we need to be saved?

Missions is clearly more than having enough money though that is very important. Vaccinations alone can cost hundreds of dollars and take time; sometimes requiring a series of three shots. Passport cost upwards of $100 and more depending. Global Entry is $100. and includes TSA. Start educating yourself now. If you prepare God will make a way.

I believe in you and you need to believe in yourself.

Preparing for Missions~Ghana

Mark 16:15 NIV
"He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation."

Picture
If all you do is prepare for your mission trip is pack a suitcase, you might be missing the “mission” part of your trip. Just like you wouldn't go on a trip without first packing the right clothing and gear, you shouldn't go on a mission trip without first preparing your mind and heart.

Mission trips tend to bring out the best and worst in all of us. For many of us, a mission trip is the most time we'll ever spend in a given week completely focused on serving others. But at the same time, a mission trip can also be the most physically, spiritually, and emotionally demanding week/weeks in a person's life. Anticipating those demanding situations can go a long way in helping you navigate potentially difficult moments during your trip. And the best way to navigate difficult, stressful, and draining moments throughout your trip is to embrace one thing: grace.

Grace is needed everyday. There is a language barrier. There is a noise level difference as population is so much bigger than my small town in West Virginia. You do not wake up and hear birds. It is never silent. You are never alone. I have learned to quiet myself in my heart and head. I can be with Jesus anywhere.

Suitcase space is limited in the trunk of cars. Pack light and prepare for who will be picking you up. We have to have an extra car pick us up to accommodate what we need to bring for the Bible College. I have learned from experience, but that is for another blog.
ACTION STEP: Prepare your heart and God will prepare the way. Stay with me all week as I pack and ready myself and our team for Accra, Ghana.

I ask you to pray for us as we travel and work the mission field and return home. If you want an Itinerary to help you pray more effectively please call our office at 304-292-7283 or leave your email in the reply section of this video.

I believe in you and you need to believe in yourself.

Finding your Roar

John 10:10
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

This year my Intensive (A getaway weekend for women who want to find their purpose and fulfill it) theme is "Be the Lion-Find your Roar."

It is time for women of all ages and in all stages to come together and learn how to work what God has given them. I will help equip attendees with a tool box and skill set to master what the Master put inside of them. That's you. You may be a diamond in the rough. I know how to mine diamonds. It may be no one ever believed in you. I believe in you. It could have been that life has not been good  to you, or that no one helped you become that powerhouse that you know you are, well I believe we can change that. God has a plan. He told me, "You have the Intensive and I will do the transforming." So, here I am.

This year has been a whole new shift for me. I am a new person myself. I got a coach and I am not afraid. I found my Roar. I know who I am. I know why I was put on this earth and I want to help you find your "Why?" When you find your "Why" you will find your "Cry." Your Roar may be birthed in pain, but it can direct you to  finding you are, the best investment you have.

Prayer and Fasting works if you work it!

Matt 17:14-21  KJV
And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying,
Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.
And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.
Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.
And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.
Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?
And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.
Picture
Have you experienced effective prayer? The kind that changes lives? Have you encountered a dire situation—a crumbling marriage, poor health, fractured relationships, lack of funds, crippling unemployment or emotional hurt—and come through it with an even stronger faith, knowing without any doubt that your God is far greater and stronger than any adversity? If that’s what you would like, then it’s time to begin practicing life-changing prayer. It’s time to direct your attention—your spirit and your mind—to the One who is able to “cause everything to work together for the good of those who love God” (Romans 8:28). It’s only through Him that you’ll experience the life change you so desperately desire.

I cut my teeth in the early days listening to Kenneth Copeland. Here is a teaching that changed my life. I pray it will change you and your prayer life. Prayerlessness is Sinfulness.

Praying Effectively: Prayer is an important part of Christians’ lives, yet some question whether their prayers are as effective as they could be. If that is you, then here are four steps to take to ensure that your prayers are effective:

Step 1: Pray an Effective Prayer by Knowing What the Bible Says:
How can you pray in a way that pleases God if you don’t know His nature? You won’t know what He has promised. You won’t know how He handles situations. You won’t know what pleases or displeases Him. To pray more effectively, take time to get to know the One to whom you are praying—through His Word. Make Bible study part of your day…every day.

Step 2: Pray an Effective Prayer by First Asking for Wisdom:  Before you ask God to solve a problem in your life, first ask Him for wisdom and for His perspective on it. Proverbs 4:7, KJV, calls wisdom “the principal thing,” and James 1:5, KJV, says God will give you His wisdom liberally. No matter what prayer you want answered, first ask for God’s wisdom to lead you.

Step 3: Pray an Effective Prayer by Remaining in Faith: Once you know what the Word says about your situation and you have God’s perspective on it, then settle within yourself what He has said. Trust Him to keep His Word. Thank Him for leading you, guiding you and answering you. Don’t let anything dissuade you from what the Lord has shown you. Stay faithful to the truth you have received.

Step 4: Pray an Effective Prayer by Forgiving: If you want the Lord to respond to your prayers, forgiveness is vital. In Mark 11, Jesus taught His disciples about the prayer of faith. At the end, He gave them the final step when He said, “…believe that ye receive…and ye shall have,” but in the very same breath, He said, “And when ye stand praying, forgive…” (verses 24-25, KJV). Effective prayers require faith, faith requires love, and love requires forgiveness. Don’t wait another second to forgive someone who has hurt you. Commit to live the life of love and faith and enjoy the benefit of effective prayer times.

You can rest knowing that your heavenly Father hears and answers your prayers when you put these steps into practice. Find out what the Bible has to say, ask for wisdom, remain in faith, and live a life of forgiveness. You’ll experience the joy of walking more closely with the Father and knowing that your prayers are effective!

ACTION STEP:  Get in behind the veil and find that intimacy with Christ where you know that you know, that you have been successful at receiving what you have prayed for. There is nothing like knowing you please God, and He uses you to reach people.

Prayer will change your life, one prayer at a time. Pray in the Spirit daily, and often, and at all times; while you drive, while you shower, while you go about your daily mundane activities. It will soon be a part of your life.

I believe in you and you need to believe in yourself.

Fighting over nothing.

1 Tim 2:8 KJV
"I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting."

James 4:17 KJV
"Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin."

Hello. Happy Wednesday. It's "Hump Day." I personally, love Wednesdays. I get to go to church. I get to spend sometime with my "framily." Yes, I spelled that correctly and it is not a typo. "Framily" is those people that are friends and family. The people that are your brothers and sisters in Christ as well as friends that we do life with. Sadly, sometimes it is the people we fight with.

So, as this You Tube for you this morning shares (Click here and then come back if video does not show up below:
https://youtu.be/mjVNSO8JFqY )

Sometimes, as the "Framily" of God we fight the wrong enemy. Just like my Hummingbirds we fight one another, when in reality there is plenty of God's blessings to go around. If we lack anything we are to ask in His (Jesus's) name and He will go to the Father for us. He (God) hears our prayers. He answers our prayers if we pray according to His will. So, we find out what His will is by reading His Word, and we pray that.

I'm not God but if the feeders are empty I fill them. Why? Because I love my Hummingbirds--how much more the Father loves and cares for us. Go ahead--just ask Him. He loves you.
ACTION STEP: Today, get your eyes off of your framily (one another) and onto the real enemy (the bees) who are stealing your blessings. The enemy of our soul comes but to steal, kill and destroy.

Monday, I got stung by a bee. It hurt and it left it's mark. A small reminder that what those hummingbirds fail to fight can hurt them. The true enemy of our lives is in our face daily, and if we all banded together we could make a huge difference in the world.

Quit fighting one another and start fighting the real enemy.

I believe in you and you need to believe in yourself.

What I want is not important, for I only desire to fulfill your plan for me. Addressing "Prayerlessness and Sleepiness."

Matthew 26:36-45

Then Jesus led his disciples to an orchard called “The Oil Press.” He told them, “Sit here while I go and pray nearby.”  He took Peter, Jacob, and John with him. However, an intense feeling of great sorrow plunged his soul into agony.  And he said to them, “My heart is overwhelmed and crushed with grief. It feels as though I’m dying. Stay here and keep watch with me.”

Then he walked a short distance away, and overcome with grief, he threw himself facedown on the ground and prayed, “My Father, if there is any way you can deliver me from this suffering, please take it from me. Yet what I want is not important, for I only desire to fulfill your plan for me.” Then an angel from heaven appeared to strengthen him.
Later, he came back to his three disciples and found them all sound asleep. He awakened Peter and said to him, “Could you not stay awake with me for even one hour?  Keep alert and pray that you’ll be spared from this time of testing. Your spirit is eager enough, but your humanity is weak.”
Then he left them for a second time to pray in solitude. He said to God, “My Father, if there is not a way that you can deliver me from this suffering, then your will must be done.”
He came back to the disciples and found them sound asleep, for they couldn’t keep their eyes open.  So he left them and went away to pray the same prayer for the third time.
When he returned again to his disciples, he awoke them, saying, “Are you still sleeping? Don’t you know the hour has come for the Son of Man to be handed over to the authority of sinful men?  Get up and let’s go, for the betrayer has arrived.”
Picture
Eph 5:14 Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

The phrase ‘O sleeper’ refers to someone who has made a practice of sleep.
Sleep is generally associated with prayerlessness in scripture. The opposite of sleep in scripture is watchfulness. In other words, you are either sleeping or watching. The two are mutually exclusive.

The instruction is for the believer to awake from sleep, to awake and rise up from prayerlessness.

Note the following points from this scripture:
  1. Sleeping is prayerlessness; wakefulness is prayerfulness
  2. A sleeping believer is compared to a dead sinner. In other words, if you are prayerless, you are not different from a dead sinner. Praying for the believer is breathing; refusal to breathe will lead to death. Listen to the Psalmists prayer in Ps 13:3 Consider and hear me, O Lord my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death
  3. A sleeping or prayerless believer is in darkness; he has lost his light which Christ will give only if he awakes from the dead; if he awakes from prayerlessness. Prayerless people have been or will be overcome by the powers of darkness when sin sets into their lives for lack of prayer will lead you to sin.
Ex 20:20 And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not.… His fear will be before your face only if you draw near to God and you will not sin.

Matt 26:41 41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. It seems the antidote to falling into temptation is watching and praying which is a state of wakefulness.

Sin will take you away from God, but coming to God will take sin away from you!

The ways of God have not changed, He won’t fit into our schedule because the world is changing. Rather, we are the ones to fit into His schedule. I have no time to pray is a lame excuse and dishonors the Lord. How can His creature not have time for Him? Man’s breath is in his nostrils, he is like the grass of the field which fades away, he is like vapor which the wind drives away. So, for that man who is a created being to rant about not having time is nonsense.

The only way to be in God’s presence, to know His voice, His heart and holiness is by staying on your knees, lifting up your voice in prayer to God who is your source.
Is 52:1-6 Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean.
  1. If you are prayerful, there will be strength in your life. You will have strength against the devil, against sin, against demonic powers, etc. You can walk into the deepest pits and nothing will touch you because you are in the secret place of the Most High. His glory surrounds you and you can’t be touched.
  2. Prayer produces beauty in your walk with God. Your garments will not be filthy or stained with sin, your life will be beautiful as the presence of the Lord will add beauty into your life. Its like the beautiful garment on Joseph. The anointing of God over your life will make you stand out and make your life beautiful.
  3. No longer will you have fellowship with the heathen. Prayerlessness will provoke fellowship with the world while prayerfulness provokes fellowship with heaven. The closer you get to heaven, the farther you are from earth; as you connect with heaven, you disconnect from earth. As you set your affections on heavenly things, your desire for earthly things will be lost.
  4. Demonic oppression sets in when you don’t pray. The devil seems to have control over your life. It’s like you sell yourself to the devil. Prayer enables me to surrender to God; prayerlessness enables me to surrender my life to Satan unknowingly. Samson lost his anointing while he slept and the Philistines came upon him to attack him. Judges 16:19; Prov 23:21
  5. Ignorance to the things of the spirit; you become dumb. Is 56:9-11. Carnality, backsliding, the works of the flesh are a result of sleep!
  6. Prayer will make you worthy to escape the tribulation. Luke 21:36
Dealing with Prayerlessness
1. The antidote for sleep and eventual death is the breath of God.In the vision of the dry bones, we see the picture of a prayerless church which when the breath of God came upon, the bones arose an exceeding great army. The bones were dead so had no ability to arise until the breath of God came into them. A man who is asleep and dead needs a stronger force to wake him up. It’s the breath of God that quickens.
The natural man has a tendency to hide from God, Adam, Israel. Sin takes us away from God. Therefore, it will take a supernatural force/power in the person of the Holy Spirit to help us break through the natural realm of fear into the supernatural realm of intimacy with God.

The valley of dry bones is a picture of the church as many are dead and dry from prayerlessness. When someone is dead, he can’t raise himself up but the resurrection power of the Holy Spirit can quicken such a person and bring him back to life again. The breath of God gives life. We will ask for the revival or quickening of the spirit which will produce the spirit of prayer in us.

Listen to the Psalmist in Ps 80:18-19 So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name. Turn us again, O Lord God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

When He quickens me, I will call upon Him; In other words, it’s by the help of the Holy Spirit that I’m awake to call upon the Lord.

Ps 13:3 Consider and hear me, O Lord my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;

Except He breathes on me, I will sleep the sleep of death!

2. Another antidote for prayerlessness is the drawing of the Spirit.SOS 1:4 Draw me, we will run after thee: the king hath brought me into his chambers: we will be glad and rejoice in thee, we will remember thy love more than wine: the upright love thee.

There is something called the drawing of the Spirit; it’s the drawing of the spirit that has made you part of this morning devotion as I’m sure many of us are very busy and would rather sleep at this time. When He draws you, you will discover that you will begin to pursue Him. Nothing else will matter in your life but Him.
Our prayer focus for the next two days will be for the Lord to quicken us by His Spirit and to draw us closer to Himself. This, my brethren is the answer to the malady of prayerlessness or the sleep of death!

ACTION STEP:  Set your watch at certain times to pray, then pray. Don't be concerned about the duration, but the connection. If you need help getting started pray this prayer out loud when you wake up in the morning and before you go to bed at night.

QUICKEN ME LORD AND I WILL CALL UPON YOUR NAME; DRAW ME AND I WILL RUN AFTER YOU!

Say the words of this prayer out loud and then proceed to pray in your understanding and other tongues as you ask for the Holy Spirit to breathe upon you:
Holy Spirit, I acknowledge your presence in me; You dwell in me and you are one with my spirit.
I ask that you will touch me deeply and move in my life.
I want to know the Lord personally and intimately.
Take my eyes and turn them away from the things of the world and place them on you.
Turn my eyes away from beholding vanity.
Let me see you Lord; Let me behold you Lord.
Take out of my heart the world and all that’s in it
Disconnect me from earthly things and connect me to heavenly things.
Empty my heart of all that is earthly and worldly.
Holy Spirit, if there’s anything in me that grieves you, Take it out and destroy it
Transform me, Cleanse me, Purify me.
Bring me closer to my Master.
Quicken me Lord and I will call upon you
Breathe upon me and wake me up from the sleep of prayerlessness that brings death.
Come, Oh breath of God and breath upon me again that I may live.
Heal my backsliding O Lord and draw me nearer to you.
Put your arms around me and hold me.
Don’t let me slide back into the flesh.
Uphold me with your right hand so my foot does not slip.
Draw me Holy Spirit and I will run after you.
Break me free from the hold of sleep; And quicken me so that I will awake from slumber and arise from the dead.
And Christ will give me light in Jesus name.
Come, breath of God, breath afresh on me; Quicken me, revive me Oh Lord
Turn me again o Lord, cause your face to shine on me and I shall be saved
Bring me into your chambers and cause me to remember your love more than wine
Let my heart be completely captivated by your love.
Amen

I believe in you and you need to believe in yourself.

It's my Sabbath.

Mark 2:27 NIV
"Then he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath."
Picture
Remember to observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.

You have six days each week for your ordinary work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath day of rest dedicated to the Lord your God. On that day no one in your household may do any work. This includes you, your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, your livestock, and any foreigners living among you. For in six days the Lord made the heavens, the earth, the sea, and everything in them; but on the seventh day he rested. That is why the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and set it apart as holy. Exodus 20:8-11

The Lord appeared again to Abraham near the oak grove belonging to Mamre. One day Abraham was sitting at the entrance to his tent during the hottest part of the day. He looked up and noticed three men standing nearby. When he saw them, he ran to meet them and welcomed them, bowing low to the ground.

“My lord,” he said, “if it pleases you, stop here for a while. Rest in the shade of this tree while water is brought to wash your feet. And since you’ve honored your servant with this visit, let me prepare some food to refresh you before you continue on your journey.”

“All right,” they said. “Do as you have said.”

Exodus 3:5 NKJV
"Then He said, “Do not draw near this place. Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground.”

Little changes make a BIG Difference. Bring your fears along for the journey. One letter change totally changes the word above, change and chance. These are very similar words, but a slight change changes everything. If you and I change us, then all of our relationships will change.

I was talking with several people over the last several weeks, and one thing was common among them all, they were looking for a shift, a change. Many had been just doing their thing but, now it wasn't bringing them the same results. There is a strong dissatisfaction among God's people right now. I believe the ground is shifting. Those of us that know God, we know there has been a shift and this is a "Holy Moment." When I found this word below (
https://youtu.be/Is1Lf29Bb1M) by Sarah Jakes it gave vocabulary to what I have been sensing. Click the link or view in your Browser. Don't back up before you can mess up. Make the shift!
ACTION STEP: Enjoy today. "Kick your feet up Friday," may become a day of "The Shift." It is inevitable that we change for when we see Him, we will be like Him. Embrace the shift. Embrace the day! Go ahead take the next step.

Register NOW for the Women of Witness Fall Intensive September 9-11, 2021. "Be the Lion-Find your ROAR!" Apply today. Then, I will review your application and if accepted you will be sent a link to Register. Don't miss the SHIFT! Don't miss your moment on Holy Ground. God has an appointment with His women. God has an appointment with you. God has given me a mandate to RAISE KINGS. God is coming back the King of Kings--we are those kings the King is coming after. It's time for the oppression to be broken off and I am called with a Moses call to let God's people go, and you are one of them. This is your time. This is your moment to shift!

Get in on the calendar.

Exodus 12:2 ESV
“This month shall be for you the beginning of months. It shall be the first month of the year for you."

I personally believe everyone needs a calendar. If you get it on the calendar you will make it happen. If it's not on the calendar it must not be important to you? I would love for you to look up Bobb Biehl on You Tube. Here is a link to get you started: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Far2MRnTETU

The Lord is the Lord of my everyday. I have given Him the times of my life. Have you? Do you feel rushed and overwhelmed? Someone once said I reminded them of a chicken with my head cut off. They suggested I get focused on a few things instead of trying to do so many things. They asked me what I could quit doing as opposed to what I could start doing. I'd never thought of time as a commodity that I was spending, and that I could never get back. This rattled me. I've always been one to get the most out of any given day. I prided myself in getting more out of a day than anyone I ever knew. But, did I make the day count for my time on this earth. Did I get done the one thing? The important thing? The most important thing? Not always. Do I now? More often times than not, yes. You can too.

If the video does not show up below view in your Browser or click here to view:
https://youtu.be/oKy0rwdlkT4
ACTION STEP: Watch the Bobb Biehl video. Get a calendar. I use Google Calendar on my phone. I use to use a Day timer. My thoughts are that God has a reason for all He does, I should too. God has seasons and purposes for those seasons, so should I. This being said, our days matter. You and I are given a limited amount of time. Let's allow God to set the limits and take the limits off. He is Lord-Master of my day, or He isn't.

I believe in you and you need to believe in yourself.

Proverbs 4:23
"Be careful what you think, because your thoughts run your life."

Picture
This is kind of a part two to yesterday's Blog. So, if you missed yesterday, you may want to go back and read it before proceeding.

I am so glad I over came my fear of kayaking. I learned so much about myself and my limitations. I loved it! I loved being out on the water. I loved learning another sport that I could do while recovering from my knee surgery. I overcame a fear. The risk level was low and the joy and experience was high. Just a few hours on the water my anxiety went way down. I couldn't wait to get out on the water again. I mean I live less than three miles from a great river and swimming opportunity. The accessibility is a no brainer. I learned another thing that I can do when people come to visit. I totally wasted twenty one years of not enjoying the river right in my own neighborhood. I missed out on a great way to relax, workout, enjoy nature, while getting a mental health break. But, my fears and "What if's?" almost paralyzed me.

So, if you are letting your "What if's?" stop you watch the video below. Get over those thoughts that roughly 85% of the time aren't even going to happen. It is more likely we will have an automobile accident on the way! Or, that we might just have a really good time and learn something new, all while having fun and improving our health.

ACTION STEP: Overcome one "What if?" today. Just one. Come on.

I believe in you and you need to believe in yourself.
