THE PRICE OF FREEDOM IS PERPETUAL VIGILANCE

7/17/2019

Freedom is fragile.
What was won through a hard fight…can be easily lost.
What took effort to obtain…
takes only a careless lack of concern to lose.

Picture
Historian John Gibbon said:
"The first warning of Rome’s ruin was not in the hostile armies mobilizing against her, but in the feasting and boasting and riotous living in her vicious capital."

So, if we lose our freedom in America…
It won’t be because a foreign country took it away.
It’s because we let it slip away from us.

Picture
What do we need to be looking for?
   1. A Lack of reverence for God.
When Samaria fell to the Assyrians,
it was because they forgot God and worshiped idols.

2 Kings 17:7 says:
"For so it was that the children of Israel had sinned against the Lord their God, who had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and they had feared other gods,"

What are some other warning signs?
1. A low estimation of human life.
2. Disregard of Christian values.
3. Profit ahead of integrity.
4. Self indulgence instead of self-control.
5. Tolerance of evil and perversion in the name of broad-mindedness and sensitivity.

Listen to these words of wisdom:

Daniel Webster said, "God grants liberty only to those who love it, and are always ready to guard and defend it.

So what are some specific things we can do to remain watchful?
#1 Practice the fundamentals of good citizenship: honesty, hard work, obedience to our laws.
#2 Exercise your right to vote, and vote by your conscience, not your pocketbook.
#3 Express yourself to your representatives.
#4 Follow the Biblical instruction to pray for governmental leaders - even if they are not of your party.
#5 Refuse to compromise, even a little, in morals, ethics, or matters of godly conscience. Even a little is harmful; a little yeast permeates the whole loaf.
#6 Remember: "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord," Psalms 33:12 (NASB).

What applies to national freedom, also applies to the freedom Jesus gives.

Hear what the Bible says about spiritual watchfulness:

Matthew 26:41 (NLT) "Keep alert and pray. Otherwise temptation will overpower you. For though the spirit is willing enough, the body is weak!"

1 Peter 5:8, 9 (NLT) "Be careful! Watch out for attacks from the Devil, your great enemy. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for some victim to devour. Take a firm stand against him, and be strong in your faith."

Hebrews 2:1-3 (NLT) "So we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it.

The message God delivered through angels has always proved true, and the people were punished for every violation of the law and every act of disobedience. What makes us think that we can escape if we are indifferent to this great salvation that was announced by the Lord Jesus himself?"

ACTION STEP: Be vigilant.
Freedom is not free. Eternal vigilance is the price we must pay to keep it.

Freedom always cost~and usually it's a life.

Yesterday, I shared that all week we would be talking about "Freedom". The problem is within the word "Freedom" is the word free. Freedom in and of itself when given--allows us to be just that, free. We are free to make choices. Choices we make, often takes the freedom away from others. Freedom often allows us privileges that others don't have, so it exposes their slavery. Sometimes it's the simple things.  If I am free to run a race, but someone else doesn't have arms or legs because they fought for the freedom of the US, then I am free to run and they are not, yet their cost of limb--paid for my freedom. Jesus was willing to pay the ultimate cost for your freedom and mine. It cost Him everything. It is a free gift to me.
Here are the points I shared yesterday. Let's look a little deeper at Point #1 today.

POINT #1
THE PRICE OF FREEDOM
IS PERSONAL SACRIFICE

POINT #2
THE PRICE OF FREEDOM
IS PERPETUAL VIGILANCE:

POINT #3
THE PRICE OF FREEDOM
IS PERSONAL RESTRAINT:
Picture
Many people have lost their freedom because others have exercised theirs. Allow me to give you a history lesson today:

During the “American Revolution” there was a man preaching across the pond in London named John Newton who had experienced that revival of heart, that ultimate freedom that only comes from Jesus Christ. His father was a well-respected sea captain and his mother was a faithful Christian woman. She often told her son the stories of her faith as he fell asleep at night. Unfortunately, she died when Newton was only eight years old, so as he moved into adulthood the stories of Jesus became a distant memory of his mother. Newton followed in his father’s footsteps as a sailor; well he was really forced into life on a boat when in 1744 a war was declared with France. He was one of eight young men who received letters from Britain informing them that they were to report to the Royal Navy because of their knowledge of life at sea. It was on this ship that he had long discussions with a mate who was a passionate atheist. One summer night he threw his mother’s faith overboard and became an adamant atheist himself. Looking back on that night he recalled experiencing a feeling of “rejoice… that I now might abandoned as I pleased, without any control.”  Controlling his life is exactly what he did, he really didn’t like the fact that he was forced to join the “Royal Navy” and on two occasions he tried to flee the ship. Both times he was brought midship and flogged with a cat of nine tails for all to see. Eventually he left the Royal Navy and joined a slave trade ship, where he would travel up the Africa cost and barter for black slaves. All slaves that entered the boat would be branded and put in irons. A third of those slaves were women who were then divided up among the men on the ship to live out their sinful desires. John Newton let lust run unchecked!

Freedom isn’t free, it always cost a price and it normally is life!

Slavery, while slavery to sin on the other hand appears free, it will cost you everything. John Newton reflects on that time and said, “Slave trade effaced the moral sense, robbed the heart of every gentle and humane disposition and hardened it like steel.”

It was a cold night in January 1748 when Newton was on the Greyhound shipping cargo in the North Atlantic.  The atheist, he retired for the night into the bunks below deck to do some reading. John was reading “The Imitation of Christ” Newton read it with detachment as if it were a romance novel. That day he read the words,
“Today the man is vigorous, and gay, and flourishing and tomorrow he is cut down, withered and gone… Ah, wretched guilty creature! Ah, stupid unthinking sinner! How wilt thou appear at the tribulation, or what plea can thou urge at the bar of sentence, to him who needs no evidence but is himself privy to thy most concealed impieties? Does thou know this and yet go unconcerned, how shalt thou escape the terrors of that dreadful day?”

Picture
Newton as he drifted off to sleep wondered if these words could be true! Sloughing them off as mere folktales of his mother he drifted off to sleep. In the mist of his nightly dreams he was awoken to a massive wave that took the boot sales completely off the ship. Someone yelled “the ship is sinking”, as Newton was headed up the ladder his caption called from behind him to get a knife, and as he turned to grab the knife another man took his place on the ladder, by the time that gentlemen reached the deck another great wave sweep the deck clear of sailors. John had no time to grieve, nor did they expect to survive. They gathered around the pumps and used clothes and bedding to stop the leaks. By the time the storm stopped, John Newton was among twelve survivors left on that ship.

At first Newton felt adventurous about the whole thing, and would yell out, “in a few days we will set over a glass of wine and talk about this.” hours tuned into days and in uttermost tiredness he went to offer a suggestion to the caption, the caption excepted his suggestion then as Newton turned away the caption said, “If this will not do, then the Lord have mercy on us!”

Well those words ring in his heart, “Have Mercy on Me, Have mercy on Me, the chief atheist, the loudest swearer and the man who mocked God’s existence. What mercy can there be for me?”

He was stationed at the wheel for the remaining journey to land, only given a few breaks to take rest. It was his time at the wheel; that the verses that his mother had shared with him, which had been stored in his heart-- fluttered to his head. He recalled Jesus life, His death and resurrection. How He forgives sin! Could he really forgive sin, especially a sinner like him, for he was an atheist, he had cursed God and those who followed him, he had abused woman and men in his time as a slave trader, there was truly not a greater sinner he thought.

Newton had discovered that his heart was incased in steal, and that he had become a captive to sin, what he once had sought as freedom had in- slaved him. Just as years ago he had thrown his mother’s faith overboard, the Lord tossed those chains which bound his heart and set him free; a freedom in which he would never forge! Remember Freedom is not free it always cost something, and normally it is life! It was the Life of Jesus Christ which many years before Newton had even enslaved his heart to sin that allowed the freedom that he experienced. John Newton became one of the most influential pastors in the late 17th Century. He is well know for writing the song “Amazing Grace”

Picture
ACTION STEP: What personal sacrifices are you making so that others can be free? Are you giving to God your Tithe so that others can get what they need through the local church. Are you sacrificing your time, talent and treasures, so that others can enjoy a Bible Study, a church service, or a hot meal, ride to church or even a friend? Every day you and I have freedom. Are we willing to make a personal sacrifice so that others may have freedom as well? Share the gospel with someone who is in the dark dungeon of sin. Practice Isaiah 61 and Luke 4 and go and do what Jesus set you free to be and do. Until tomorrow...exercise your freedom to bless others.

Freedom isn't free

7/15/2019

There is one thing wrong with the word “FREEDOM”. It contains the word “free”, and therefore, many think it doesn’t cost anything. However, freedom cost everything. Liberty or freedom never comes without someone paying a big price and usually that price is a life. Our freedom in America has always come at the price of lives. Many men, women and children have lost their lives for the cost of freedom.

As I have traveled the nations and learned the history of the people of those countries the stories vary, but the theme is always the same, freedom isn't free. When men and women are not free from the life and lust of sin, they treat other human beings in unspeakable ways. It is not just national freedom but spiritual freedom that cost lives. Slavery cost lives. Prejudice cost lives. Selfishness cost lives.

Jesus tells us to take up our cross daily. God desires living sacrifices. We die daily to what we want--so that others can get what they need. Soldiers die to protect the country for whom they fight. Jesus died to free you and I from the sin that so easily enslaves us. God sent His son to die, so that we could be free. Freedom is never free, it always cost and usually that cost is a life.
Picture
In 1215, King John of England was forced to give up some of his powers, and concede liberties to the people through the Magna Charta. The British Bill Of Rights of 1689 provided for civil rights for the people and political supremacy to Parliament.
Our nation’s liberty was proclaimed…in the Declaration Of Independence of July 4, 1776. President Lincoln freed the slaves…with the Emancipation Proclamation of 1863. The people of Iraq have been set free from the oppressive regime of Saddam Hussein. None of these victories for freedom came without a high price. Freedom is no cheap thing. In all the wars for freedom in history people have paid the ultimate price. And those who loved them paid the price in grief and loss.
Picture
All this week we will be looking at the cost of freedom. What price are you willing to pay? Here are the 3 points we will be looking at. It is from the sermon that I shared with out local church yesterday. It was missions Sunday so I was not able to share all the information, and so many ask that I share it in this Blog. I hope you come along and share the journey with me, as I write on the subject of "Freedom isn't free."
  • POINT #1

ACTION STEP: What personal sacrifices are you making or have you made for your spiritual freedom? For your national freedom? Leave a comment in the Reply and I will try to post or address, in the rest of this weeks Blog. This week--let freedom ring--by paying the ultimate price of laying down your life, or at least being willing to do what Jesus asks of us, and what our country asks of us.

Gambling and God

7/12/2019

I looked at the date today and when I saw 7/11, I thought of Gambling. I am not sure why? Nevertheless, I don't think anything is by accident, so I prayed and ask God, "Is there something you want to say about Gambling?" I wasn't expecting the answer I got. God doesn't like gambling.  For many Gambling is an addiction. The addiction (demonic spirit), rules the gambler's life. Recently, Gambling has been labeled as an addiction akin to heroine. Many have lost much starting out just playing a little.
Picture
I found these quotes on a Google search for gambling:
Quotes
“Gambling is the child of avarice, the brother of iniquity, and the father of mischief.” – George Washington

“Gambling is a sickness, a disease, an addiction, an insanity, and is always a loser in the long run.”

“Gambling can be just as addictive as drugs and alcohol. Teens and their parents need to know that they’re not just gambling with money, they’re gambling with their lives.”

“Gambling is the sure way of getting nothing for something.”

Picture
Many people wonder if  gambling is a sin? Although there might not be a clear cut verse from what we learn in Scripture I strongly believe it is a sin and all Christians should stay away from it. It is terrible to see that some churches are bringing gambling in the house of God. The Lord is not pleased.

Many people are going to say, well the Bible doesn’t specifically say you can’t do it. The Bible doesn’t specifically say you can’t do a lot of things that we know as sin.
Many people find any excuse they can give for what is wrong, but just like Satan deceived Eve he will deceive many by saying, did God really say you can’t do that?

One of the greatest problems of gambling is it takes away from trusting in the Lord. God says I will provide for your needs. Satan says roll the dice there might be a chance that you win and become filthy rich. You see the problem. When you trust in God nothing is by chance. God provides for our needs and God gets all the glory. Gambling is showing that you don’t really trust in the Lord.

Isaiah 65:11 But because the rest of you have forsaken the LORD and have forgotten his Temple, and because you have prepared feasts to honor the god of Fate and have offered mixed wine to the god of Destiny.

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.
ACTION STEP: You have a higher chance of being struck by lighting than winning the lottery. Most gambling is not made for you to win. It’s made for you to dream about what if I did win. Gambling fails in its attempt to give people hope because most people spend thousands of dollars for nothing. Just take a thousand dollars and throw it in the garbage that is exactly what gamblers do over the course of time. When you have greed you will always lose more than you gain. Gambling is bad for your health and it violates many Scriptures as seen above. Seek hard work and trust in the Lord with your income.

Similarities between the rain and reign of God.

7/11/2019

I've always been able to smell the rain before it ever arrives. I've noticed the leaves of the trees turn toward the sky as if to cup, what they expect to come. Trees seem to prepare for the rain, as if orchestrated they begin to sway and roll over. The earth that has allowed itself to survive the beating of the sun, open and receive the water as the sky opens up, and droplets begin to fall. The earth doesn't fight the rain, it receives it. We have been made from the earth (Genesis 2:7). Why is it then, that man created from the earth, resist the reign of God? Why don't we roll over? Why is it we don't lift our hands to the Heavens? Why don't we open up to all God wants to pour down upon us, and pour into us? We resist. We run. We turn away, rather than towards our creator. God rains and reigns, and His creation is to lift itself to Him in whatever way He decides to display Himself, and make Himself known. Yet, we who are the highest of the life forms, that He created--think we know better. We question Him and all He does. I wonder what He thinks? How merciful and kind, good and patient He must really be? His desire has always been to clothe us. His desire has always been to cover us. (Psalm 91:4)
Picture
The trees of the earth don't struggle to produce the fruit of their own kind, they just stand and submit, to what they are programed and created to do. Often times the word of God compares us to trees, but literally some of us are true "Hardwoods". Who of us, in our right mind...would fight God? Yet, how many of us too? We want what we want, and think that reason alone, is worthy of rebellion against the word of God? Who do we think we are? That's right! We think rather than submit. We struggle rather than lift up our branches and bear the fruit of the gifts God has placed within us. Then we wonder. We cry out to God. Why aren't our relationships better? Why don't we manifest patience, kindness and goodness? Where are the practicals of a godly life; like faithfulness, gentleness and self-control?
Picture
If truly you have received the love of God(an unconditional love),you will  extend  that love to others!

My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. John15:12

Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.-Romans 12:10

No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. John 4:12

Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. Romans 13:10

ACTION STEP: Let us ask for this fruit of the Holy Spirit. If we ask,God won’t decline our request. Lift up your heads O you ancient gates and let the King of Glory may come in! (Psalm 24:9)
Let's be the trees of the Lord, the planting of our God and cup our hearts, hands and heads to all God wants to reign down on us! (Isaiah 45:8) (Acts 14:17) (Amos 4:7) (Exodus 9:33)

See it, don't say it, pray it.

7/10/2019

Matthew 5:33-37 MSG  "And don't say anything you don't mean.
This counsel is embedded deep in our traditions.
You only make things worse when you lay down a smoke screen of pious talk,
saying, 'I'll pray for you,' and never doing it, or saying,
'God be with you,' and not meaning it.
You don't make your words true by embellishing them with religious lace. In making your speech sound more religious,
it becomes less true.
Just say 'yes' and 'no.' When you manipulate words to get your own way,
you go wrong.
Picture
While out running recently I heard very clearly in my Spirit these words, "We see it, we don't say it, we pray it." I literally stopped in my tracks. Perhaps, it is just me? I this tendency to say what I see, or what I am thinking and feeling before running it through my spiritual processor. When I got born again I believe I got this brand new filter through which I am to run every thought...(2 Corinthians 10:5) I was told early in my spiritually formative years that, "Birds will fly over your head, but you don't allow them to build a nest." This help me not to walk in condemnation for what I would catch myself thinking. As I developed in the Word of God I realized the Holy Spirit was also working on my eyes and my mouth. How I perceived what I saw and heard mattered to God. As He began to show me things about people and talk to me about certain situations or circumstances my prayer life drastically changed. The more time I spent on my knees the more I understood people. I wasn't anxious or angry nearly as often because the Peace of God was transcending my natural mind.
Picture
ACTION STEP: Spend enough time in the Word of God that it becomes the filter through which you filter every thought, everything you see and every word you speak. The whole world will look different. People will look different. However, more importantly your relationship with your Savior will go to a new level.

Be somebody's Someone.

7/9/2019

When you run a race it is a weird thing. You are with perhaps hundreds or even thousands of people, and you still feel alone. You may only be an arms length or less away from someone else, but you may as well be a hundred miles apart. Everyone runs their own race, or at least they should. No two people are exactly alike, but we do have things in common. We all want to finish the race. We all need encouragement. There are times when we are running, that our minds drift off to a distant place, a forgotten time, or a memory we can't shake. You've all heard of the runners high. Few have heard of the runners cry. As a runner I have experienced both. That's when we need our someone. That's when you have the opportunity to be somebody's someone. Many have been my someone, but there is one who is always with me. He is the assurance that I will finish the race of my life.
Picture
I live for Christ. Christ is my Somebody, but sometimes I need a someone with skin on. Sometimes I need to be that Someone with skin on. Recently in a 4 mile run on the 4th of July, I had an opportunity to be somebody's Someone. They started the race way to fast and were hurting, and breathing heavy, at about the 1 -1 1/2 mile mark. When I caught up to them, I could see the reddened face, and the white lips. When you're a runner you know the signs. I told her, "Out like a Rabbit finish like a Turtle." I ask her if I could pace her for awhile. I started sharing tips..."Run silent. If you hear your shoes you're wasting necessary energy. Breathe through your nose and out your mouth. Use your arms when your legs get tired." She started feeling better. Her smile came back she was going to be just fine. Before I took off I told her, "I'll see you at the finish line." That I did! She finished like a Rabbit.
Picture
The race we run is prayerfully long. It will be hard at times. Thankfully the course is not all up hill, nor is it all down hill. Somedays, it is just plain hot and we have to sweat it out. Other days, the chill seems to cut like a knife--but we run. We are promised that at the end of the race there is a prize. We run for that. We are also promised in this race, that we will never have to run alone. There is someone who sticks closer than a brother. I am blessed to have 4 brothers. I love them all. One is in Heaven and I am looking forward to seeing him there. I may not talk to them everyday. I may not see them nearly as much as I would like, but I know that if I needed them they would be there. My husband and my children are my someones. My pastors and Steels are my someones. Some of my friends are that someone. We all need to have someone.

If you are running alone I encourage you to ask Jesus to be your Savior. Ask Him to show Himself strong on your behalf. If you started out running with Him and then took a turn, so that now you are running away from Him, I urge you to turn around. If you want to finish well, never run alone. Life is meant for us to be somebody's someone and to always have the assurance that we too, will always have Someone.
Proverbs 18:24
"A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly:
and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother."

ACTION STEP: Be somebody's someone today. Get out there and run your own race. Keep your own pace. Who cares how slow or fast someone else appears to be running? No one knows their final miles of the race they are running. For some it could be there final few miles. For others they may have several miles to go. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other and stay focused on the finish line. No one said it would be easy...but He did say, "You are never alone." He wants to be that "Someone" to all of us, and we should all strive to be like Him. WWJD?

Four Words That Bring Freedom

7/8/2019

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord: and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.” Psalm 33:12 (KJV)
This being the month of the birthday of our nation we think of freedom. When we think of freedom there are 4 words that come to mind, because the only true freedom is found in Christ. First let me define Freedom. Freedom is being released from Illegitimate restrictions; Boundaries.

For example the boundaries that govern land.

Words spoken by you that place unseen boundaries in your life; “I’ll never be able to do that.”  “I can see myself doing that.” There is power in your Words. We are created in God’s image, God spoke the universe into being and it continues to expand today. We have this same power at our disposal, if we only realized it. Speak the Word, Prophesy over your own life, family, etc.

What relational boundaries do you struggle with? Marital issues, family funds, etc.
Circumstantial Boundaries, a low paying job, a house fire, your car needs repairs. Circumstances change.
Physical Boundaries-battling various health conditions, generational conditions that run in your “natural family line” but not in your spiritual DNA.  God give us life and more abundantly; we serve a loving God.
Let’s See what it takes to have Freedom Reign in our lives.
Picture
Believe:
Believe: What do I see myself “doing”? Believing is doing. Believe that Jesus Christ is Lord.
John 2:23-24 Now when He was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed in His name when they saw the signs which He did.  But Jesus did not commit Himself to them, because He knew all men, and had no need that anyone should testify of man, for He knew what was in man.
Learn:
Who are you following and what are you learning? What is being demonstrated? What’s been modeled that you can learn from?  It’s in the process of doing that we learn the spiritual and physical lessons of life.
John 6:60 "Therefore many of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, this is a hard saying; who can understand it?
Follow HIM:
Cadence: are you walking alone or with Jesus?
John 6:66 (6 being the number of man) “From that time many of his disciples went back and walked with him no more."  Will you stay the course? Tomorrow I will talk about the importance of knowing those whom you labor with and the value of being a part of a team/family/church congregation.

Luke 18:13  “And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes, (side note, the eyes are the window into the spirit, much can be discerned by looking someone in the eyes) unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner." Aren’t you glad His mercies are new every morning?

We read in 1 John 2:6 “he that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.  The important word in this passage is “abide” “hold” to remain.  It’s not how you start it’s now you finish. Forgetting those things which are behind and pressing on…  Keep Following Him, whether you find yourself in the valley or on a mountain top, KEEP MOVING!
Picture
The process of believing and following will lead one to discover things about themselves and the process. It’s in the process that the real lessons of life are learned, developed and matured. SO…

Discover the Truth
I John 1:1, “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of Life;”

You and I both know we don’t learn much by “watching” we learn by “doing” and being coached and trained, and “doing it over and over”. I caution you, don’t give up on the process. Do the last thing the Lord directed you to do.  Be faithful.

Remember John 14:6, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

There is only ONE True God - God Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth.  The Great I AM.
Our Freedom was costly, the shed blood of Jesus Christ, be cautious that you strive to use your freedom(s) wisely. Remember silence is an answer. You have a voice; let your voice be heard.

1Tim 2:4 reads, “Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.”  When you know truth, you have freedom.  The truth has set you free!

The greatest thing that you can discover is that plans that God has for you!!

Action Step: Believe, Learn, Follow, Discover.  One step at a time, and enjoy the journey! What freedom(s) are you most thankful for? Why?  I look forward to your comments.
Reminder WOW 10am at RCI, I hope to see you there.

Best Birthday Party ever!

7/5/2019

I pray you had a great 4th of July celebration with all the food, fun, family and festivities. For me yesterday was an awesome day. I began the day with a 4 mile race. It was hot and hard. The race began at Morgantown Running and went to Star City. From Star City it went right up the hill (big hill) to Sheetz. From there we made a left and ran up the Boulevard past Texas Roadhouse and continued on to the WVU Coliseum.  I thought I was going to throw up. Then, down the Boulevard back to the Seneca Center. Downhill running is so hard on your legs. Then, it was off to Breakfast at my daughter's and her family. Then, a short rest and we were headed to the 4th Festivities at our local court house to watch our Praise Team worship the Lord, after a quick bit to eat at local Thai Resturant. Then, we watched the parade--I even got bubble gum. Did I mention I love bubble gum.  To top it all off, we visited my Mom and watched the President and First Lady celebrate our great country. Watching the TV Program and what was going on in DC made me so proud to be an American. It was a full day. It was a great day.

However, I couldn't help but notice a great divide. When a part of the parade went by that people liked, there would be applauds and cheers. Then, another part of the parade would go by and the silence was deafening. Children riding decorated bikes contrasted with rainbow banners and costumes. America one nation under God indivisible seemed divided and the division was obvious.
Picture
If you missed the televised 4th of July celebration in DC see the link below. This was the greatest celebration I have seen in America since I was a little girl. Reminder my age group division for the 4 mile run on the 4th was 60-99 years old (lol), so let's just say, "That's a lot of years."
Regardless of where you stand let's be reminded of this truth:
Psalm 33:12-22  (KJV)
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.
The Lord looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men.
From the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth.
He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works.
There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.
An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.
 Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;
To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.
Our soul waiteth for the Lord: he is our help and our shield.
For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.
Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.
We can be divided about many things, but the one thing that made this nation great and will continue to stand beside her and guide her is the God she serves. When a nation ceases to serve God it will only be a matter of time before she ceases to be great.
ACTION STEP: Celebrate this great nation, protect her with all that you are and all that you have because that is what our forefathers did. Many of you have fathers, grandfathers, uncles, brothers who served and fought for this country. Today, you may have mothers, sisters, daughters that are giving their lives to protect this United States of America. What part do you play? Are you praying and interceding for our nation and its leaders? If not perhaps this article posted below will motivate you as it has me, to make prayer for our president and this nation daily.

Read this from the Billy Graham Association:
The president recently asked for prayer as he faces the complex and dangerous challenges of leading our country in such tumultuous times.
His request was a pointed reminder to me that I should be praying for our president and our leaders every day—not to get something from them—but simply in obedience to the Scriptures. I personally haven’t prayed the way I should, and I’m sure that’s the case for some of you as well.
We know from Scripture that God can turn the hearts of kings (Proverbs 21:1). That means that we should be praying for God’s will to be done and for our leaders to seek God and listen to Him. We should pray that they would be surrounded by godly counsel and, most important, that our leadership would personally know God and the salvation found through faith in Jesus Christ alone.
Think about all of the issues before our president and the leaders of our nation at this moment. Ebola is not only a huge problem for Western Africa, but it could be a major problem for this country. Our broken borders are a major challenge. In addition to all of the other concerns, they can provide terrorists easy access.
ISIS is brutally murdering Christians in Syria and Iraq, and other jihadists are killing Christians in Iran and other parts of the Muslim world. Believers are being threatened, villages are being burned, and churches pulled down.
Ukraine is in peril as Russia seems to want to rebuild its former Soviet empire there. China is spending huge amounts on its military and beginning to flex its muscles in the Pacific, threatening its neighbors including Vietnam and the Philippines. North Korea has nuclear weapons, Iran may be on the verge, and the threat of terrorists gaining access to nuclear bombs is very real.
Should we not be diligently praying that God would give our president, Congress and military leaders wisdom? Our senators and governors and council members need our prayers—even if they are not the candidates we voted for.
Interceding for those in authority is not an option. It is a biblical command that we are to obey. “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty” (1 Timothy 2:1-2, KJV).
Understand that the Apostle Paul is writing this instruction to his protégé Timothy at a time when the vile emperor Nero was at the helm of the vast Roman Empire. Christians were viciously persecuted, clothed in wild animal skins and put in the arena before hungry lions, even covered red in pitch and used as human lanterns to light the streets of Rome.
Nevertheless, the aged apostle, who would soon be martyred during Nero’s reign of terror, instructs Timothy to make prayer for the rulers of his day—including the deranged Nero—a personal priority.
There should be a sense of urgency in our prayer life, an understanding that we “do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 6:12). The prince of darkness is grimly and powerfully at work in world affairs, and prayer is a great battlefield especially as we pray for those in leadership.
When the Scripture says that the “king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, like the rivers of water” (Proverbs 21:1), it means that a Sovereign God can turn the heart of a king at any time and in any way. If there are policies and platforms that don’t conform to biblical ethics, the intercession of Christians can be used in a powerful, transforming way.
Neither kings, nor presidents, nor mayors, nor members of Congress are the ultimate authority—God is. “The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying, ‘Let us break Their bonds in pieces and cast away Their cords from us.’ He who sits in the heavens shall laugh …” (Psalm 2:2-4).
As Charles Spurgeon said, “prayer is the slender nerve that moves the omnipotent muscle of God.” The Bible commands us to pray for authorities, because all authority has been established by Him to accomplish His purposes.
When the prophet Jeremiah wrote to the Jewish exiles who lived in Babylonian captivity, he encouraged them not to protest or rebel against their captors, but to pray for them: “Seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the Lord for it; for in its peace you will have peace” (Jeremiah 29:7). Even in the midst of an evil and wicked land, Jeremiah focused the Hebrew captives to pray for God’s blessing.
Perhaps this is at least part of what the apostle meant when he said that praying for our leaders can result in an atmosphere that is conducive to the spreading of the Gospel, leading to a “quiet and peaceable life” (1 Timothy 2:2, KJV). The more hostile the culture is to Christians and Christianity—and that is certainly the case in our nation today—the more difficult it is to preach and teach the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The Lord may use our prayers for those in authority to somehow delay or even stop legislation or initiatives that hinder the advance of the Gospel. We have experienced serious moral degradation in America, but there are still many opportunities for the proclamation of the Gospel. The day may soon come when that freedom no longer exists, thus all the more reason to pray for God’s mercy to turn the hearts of our leaders now.
It is also very clear that the ultimate reason the Bible instructs us to intercede on behalf of our leaders is so that they might come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. “This (our intercession) is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (1 Timothy 2:3-4).
God’s desire is that as many people as possible be saved before He returns. He commands “all men everywhere to repent” (Acts 17:30), so that they might escape the eternal wrath of God at the judgment.
Praying for those in authority means that we are constantly asking that the Lord will open their hearts to the truth of the Gospel message, and receive Christ as their Savior. Born-again leaders have the indwelling person of the Holy Spirit to guide them as they seek to govern.
I can’t help but ask myself if all Christians had fulfilled this admonition and been faithful to pray for our leaders, would our nation—even our world—be different today? Can our diligent, heartfelt prayers make a difference for the future? Most certainly.
Prayer is the Christian’s greatest weapon in a world that seems to be coming apart around us.  ©2014 BGEA

Yesterday, I was saddened and sickened by Nike bowing down to one man's voice. Where is our voice Americans? A man who is referred to as a professional, who refused to stand and knelt instead for the American Anthem and flag at a football game has now controlled an entire company enough to pull their shoe off the market? Can you imagine what that cost them? Cost us the US taxpayer? Cost Arizona? Check out the article here:  https://www.msn.com/en-ca/money/companies/nike-nixes-betsy-ross-flag-shoe-after-kaepernick-intervenes/ar-AADIzLd?li=AA54rW

According to Greek mythology, Nike is the Winged Goddess of Victory. The logo is derived from the goddess wing swoosh which symbolized the sound of speed, movement, power and motivation.

I don't live my life according to Greek mythology I live my life by the Word of God. However, I liked this logo. I love the shoes fit for my narrow high arched foot. However, they have shown their true colors (pun intended) concerning their support and love for our great country. And really, Arizona is going to continue to fund them? What are we bowing to America? I believe we are bowing to the God of Baal=Money. The love of money, American pocketbooks are making decisions. Read the full story here:

Today, make sure you know our history Americans. Teach your children and your grandchildren the history of America. If we don't learn from history, we are bond to make the same mistakes we have made over again. We must rehearse our victories and repent for our atrocities. Where did, "One for all and all for One" go? I realize we are not the 3 Musketeers but we are at least in this state Mountaineers! Let's teach by modeling. Jesus was a "I do-you watch, You do-I watch" kind of leader. Others will follow our lead whether we are going in the right direction or not. Make sure you are headed in the right direction. You may think no one is watching, but the world is our stage and God sees it all too.
ACTION STEP: Use your voice for the purpose for which God intended. Don't be concerned about what others think more than what the Word of God states. To remain silent is to bow our knee to Satan when others refuse to bow their knee to God, and this great nation that God has blessed. We are still one nation under God, aren't we?
