What would you like to be remembered for.

Last night, as I shared the message the Lord gave me, He brought something to my mind that wasn't in my notes. "What do you want your epitaph to say?" "What will you be remembered for?" Since we have just celebrated the Resurrection, and are still remembering Passover; it brought to mind how we remember Jesus. This led to asking those watching on Live-streaming how they would like to be remembered?
Picture
We laugh at the above tombstone, but think for a moment--perhaps all their time was spent surfing the net? What will you be remembered for?

You will be remembered for what you are doing in your life today.

It will be too late to change things at your funeral.

Let me encourage you to live out your life of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ in the world in which you live right now.

Do what's on that "Bucket List" sooner than later.

I read about a lady who kept her beautiful silk night clothes rapped in tissue paper in her drawer. She was saving them for a special occasion. They buried her in them. I don't want to wait that late to wear something beautiful. Another story I read was much the same. The story was about beautiful hand crocheted pillow cases that a couple had received as a wedding gift. It had their names sewn in beautiful threads. They were never used and found only after they were buried.

I want to encourage you to use your gifts today, not just the physical tangible gifts but your God-given gifts. If you paint--then paint. If you write--then write. Whatever it is that you do well, then to God be the glory "Do it now!" Be remembered for kindness. Be remembered as a great story teller. Be remembered for having an infectious laughter.

I have a friend that lights me up like a lightbulb when she calls me on the phone. Why? Her infectious laughter makes me smile every time. Yesterday, was her birthday and she was celebrated by all who love her. Why? Because she lives a life worth celebrating.
The life we live is God given, what we do with it, is a choice. We can choose to smile and enjoy the day, or complain and grumble, things are not as we would like them to be. Choices. We have hundreds of them a day. Smile or frown. Soft answer or wrath. Work or lay around. Be kind or be hateful. Show love or wait for others to love you first. Sounds like a child's game. Let's be children of God, but mature in our choices and actions.
Joshua 24:15 NIV
"But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”

Isn’t it amazing how people always remember the bad things you’ve done.

Peter’s Denial not His preaching at Pentecost.

David’s sin with Bathsheeba not him bringing the ark home.

Jonah running from God not his preaching.

Eve’s sin as oppose to her beginnings.

The World remembers the bad things that we have done, Praise God He forgive us.

Psalm 103:12 "As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us."

What do we want to be remembered for?

What legacy do we want to leave behind?

Not to take any credit, but to say how God has used us.

ACTION STEP: Think before you speak. Read the Word of God so that you can live your life according to what it tells us. We may not know the answers to every question life brings, but we can know the One who does.

More time on your hands? Spend some of it with God. Allow Him to have a conversation with you. Listen as much as you speak. Ask Him questions, then listen for His answers. Live to leave a legacy you will be proud of, and God will reward.

Old Testament thankfulness verses
Ezra 3:11. With praise and thanksgiving they sang to the Lord: ...
Psalm 7:17. I will give thanks to the Lord because of his righteousness; ...
Psalm 9:1. I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; ...
Psalm 35:18. ...
Psalm 69:30. ...
Psalm 95:1-3. ...
Psalm 100:4-5. ...
Psalm 106:1.
Yesterday morning, I needed a dental procedure. Apparently, fillings go bad after about fifty years. The good news is now they use white fillings, and so it looks like you never had a cavity. The bad news is the cavity can occur under the filling and hurt really bad. So, they grind out the old filling, and the cavity and refill your tooth. I have three needing done yet. They did one today.

With the quarantine my dentist opened early and just worked on me. I love my dentist. But, in all honesty I lost an entire day. Today, are some special peoples birthdays, I had paper work to do, I had projects to complete...nothing. Nothing got done. I was feeling down. So, I got out my grateful journal. I am grateful for a dentist that loves me and takes care of his patients. I am grateful I have a daughter that's having a birthday. I am grateful for Ghostwriters who can take directives and get a job done with excellence.

Picture
I am grateful for friends that help me get through my day. I am grateful for a husband who knows how to cook. I am grateful that I have teeth and I can keep my teeth. I am grateful for you. You make me want to write even when I feel like, I have nothing to say that matters. I am grateful Jesus sees us all right now--right where we are; and He gets it.
Picture
ACTION STEP: Don't be too proud to ask for help. I was anxious and didn't know what to do yesterday. So, I called a friend--a friend I could trust and depend on. She knows my heart. She knows how much I love God's people. She did a great job. I could focus on getting myself better.

Reach out and ask for help today. Don't always try to do it yourself and go it alone. God cares. God's people care. This will not last forever, but while it is here take a deep breathe and be thankful.

Tune in tonight at 7PM for my midweek message at Restorationchuchintl.org and watch live. I want to share a prophetic word with you.

Luke 24:34
“It is true! The Lord has risen and has appeared to Simon.”

Picture
The story of the disciples on the Emmaus Road is important for many reasons. It provides an emphasis on the Old Testament prophecies relating to Jesus, evidence regarding an additional appearance of Jesus, and a connection regarding the many eyewitnesses of the resurrected Jesus. Luke 24 is often seen as a model of the journey that Jesus makes with many of us today, as He opens our eyes, points us to the Word, and reveals Himself along life’s walk as the resurrected Savior and Lord. We all need to take a walk with Jesus and spend some time with Him so He can bring clarity to our rather dark and confusing circumstances and the things that have occurred--now more than ever.
Picture
The men with Jesus on the road to Emmaus had experienced a faith-shaking body blow by seeing Christ die. I think these last couple weeks we could all say we have seen a faith-shaking body blow with the shutting down of the world.

With all other
disciples, they couldn't fathom
Jesus and death in the same sentence.

Indeed, their original high hopes for Christ fell to equally abysmal depths once He died. Returning home that Sunday afternoon proved the finality of their hope, despite the ferment of equal exhilaration and despair circulating among the disciples over news of Christ's resurrection. The men of Emmaus had no doubt: Jesus was gone and that was the end of their confidence. Naturally, they talked as they walked, discussing the "what ifs" of the Final Week in Jerusalem, wondering "why this and that" had happened. Verses 19b-24 unquestionably summarized their discussions. When we fail to understand events, things, or people we begin to talk about what happened over and over again; we try to make sense of things so we know where to put them. Don't we? Why did this person die? Why are there so many deaths and yet so few of us know of anyone with the virus?

Their obsession with Christ's failure at Calvary led to their failing to recognize Him when He approached. Sometimes what we think keeps us from seeing truth. He hadn't disguised Himself. They simply couldn't recognize Him because they rejected the whole idea of His death. What is it in our own life we don't see (or won't see) because of what we believe? We will only understand Jesus if we see Calvary as a Victory, not a Defeat; as a Conquest, not a Subjugation! Despite their denials, and subsequent inability to recognize Him, He tried to awaken them to His identity and purpose by seeking specific information about the cause of their sadness.

While they couldn't believe that anyone in Jerusalem could be ignorant of the epochal changes in the past week, they faithfully recounted to Him what they knew. As they did, it was obvious they had first-hand information. Everything said was in harmony with Gospel teaching about Jesus. Their references to Christ's possible resurrection are also authentic truth-telling biography. Nothing but confusion could result in those garbled reports, those partial accounts from differing sources. Had instant faith in Christ's resurrection resulted from such accounts, skeptics would have reason to doubt. When we listen to all the reports about the virus and the economy and the president we can become confused as well. We must hear the words of Jesus and believe in that and that alone!

The men with Jesus on the road to Emmaus had the unbelievable benefit of Christ's personal tutoring in the meaning of Old Testament Scripture. In what was unquestionably a stern rebuke, delivered in a light-hearted manner, Jesus tied His death and resurrection to prophetic teaching. He explained plainly what generations of their scholars had misunderstood: only through suffering could Jesus gain the victory that equaled His suffering. That offered the real, true meaning of all Old Testament teaching.

ACTION STEP: Sometimes only by spending time with Jesus, (in His Word and walking and talking with Him), can our eyes be opened to who He is, and what He wants us to understand. Take that time while you have it. We may be quarantined for such a time as this.

We have all sinned and deserve God’s judgment. God, the Father, sent His only Son to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in Him. Jesus, the creator and eternal Son of God, who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that He died for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, was buried, and rose from the dead according to the Bible. If you truly believe and trust this in your heart, receiving Jesus alone as your Savior, declaring, "Jesus is Lord," you will be saved from judgment and spend eternity with God in heaven.

Good Friday~because without it there would be no Resurrection.

4/10/2020

I always wondered why they called "Good Friday", "Good Friday." Once I became a Christian and realized what happened on Friday, I realized why it was and is still good. As I grew in my faith I came to know it is was good Friday, because without a Good Friday there would never have been a Resurrection Sunday. I came to know how much Jesus did for me and how much Father God loved me. The entire crux of our Christianity rest in this sacrifice and gift.

I also recently read an article that said, "Good" used to mean "Holy" and even though language has changed the title given today has remained the same.

Picture
I happened upon this video while looking for something meaningful to share with you. I'm not sure why all these people live together, but they say in the below video that they do. Their voices are beautiful and the Spirit of the Lord is definitely present. If you have to spend today alone I pray this ministers to you.  Here is the link in case the video doesn't show up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IdKBXbcA0c&feature=em-uploademai
ACTION STEP: As you watch and listen to this video I pray that you will be touched as never before. During this time of quarantining may you realize how blessed you truly are. Thank God for technology that allows us to be together, though we may be miles apart. Praise God for music, the word of God and the presence of the Holy Ghost. You are loved and Christ would have died if only for you--in fact He did. Praise be to God for the unparalleled gift. My prayer for all of us--for the entire world is that this day we would all unite in bringing His Kingdom to earth and His will being done on earth as it is in Heaven. Amen.

Holy Thursday or Maundy Thursday

4/9/2020

Yesterday, was a day often referred to as "Spy Wednesday"--the day Judas betrayed Jesus. "From this moment on, Judas sought an opportunity to betray Jesus." In reference to Judas Iscariot's intent to betray Jesus, formed on Holy Wednesday, the day is sometimes called "Spy Wednesday". (The word spy, as used in the term, means "ambush, ambuscade, snare".)

Some commentaries, mainly Jewish say last night, (Wednesday) was the last supper. Catholic commentaries say the last supper is tonight. Whether it was last night or tonight it matters not. What matters is that we remember and we celebrate and we allow the events that took place to change us, to cause us to remember and be grateful.

Today, is the day some record the beheading of John the Baptist. (h
ttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beheading_of_John_the_Baptist)  It is called Maundy money. This was money distributed as alms in conjunction with the ceremony of maundy or on Maundy Thursday. Most commentaries believe Thursday is night (Maundy Thursday) on which Jesus was betrayed by Judas in the Garden of Gethsemane.

People will do almost anything for money. Money is not evil in and of itself rather it is the love of money. God wants us to have money but not to love it--the love is to go to Him the creator of all things, including money.
Picture
The Thursday before Easter is known as either Maundy Thursday, or Holy Thursday. Maundy is derived from the Latin word for "command," and refers to Jesus' commandment to the disciples to "Love one another as I have loved you." (https://www.al.com/living/2015/04/five_things_to_know_about_maun.html)

I also found Maundy is the name of the Christian rite of footwashing, which traditionally occurs during Maundy Thursday church services. Others theorize that the English name "Maundy Thursday" arose from "maundsor baskets" or "maundy purses" of alms which the king of England distributed to certain poor at Whitehall before attending Mass on that day. Thus, "maund" is connected to the Latin mendicare, and French mendier, meaning to beg.  (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maundy_Thursday)
Picture
Regardless of all the traditions and all the varying opinions of what happened on the Thursday before Jesus Crucifixion does not truly matter, what truly matters is that it happened. Jesus came. Jesus died. Jesus was buried. Jesus rose again. What Jesus did and because of why He did it--makes it possible for us to do the same. Jesus overcame sin, so can we. Jesus endured great pain and betrayal, so can we. Jesus was hated but never denied His Father, so can we.

Regardless, of what is happening in the world we are victorious. We are the kings that the King of Kings will be returning to take with Him. God has made us to rule and reign, not to beg. When we pray we asks in the name of Jesus according to the Word of God and God hears us and He answers us.  (If the video is not showing up here is the link:

Picture
ACTION STEP: Whatever, you do today--whatever you believe happened today, you can still believe that God answers prayer. Today, find time to pray to God for whatever needs you have, and for the needs of our nation, and the world. We need God to intervene, and do what only He can do.

If you need help getting started I attached a prayer below. I once heard to use your hand to remind you of what you need to pray for. Each finger represents a different topic.

John 13:1-17; John 13:34-35

Lord God,
You sent your Son into the world,
And before his hour had come,
He washed his disciples’ feet.
You had given all things into his hands.
He had come from you, and was going to you,
And what did he do?
He knelt down on the floor,
And washed his friends’ feet.
He was their teacher and their Lord,
Yet he washed their feet.
Lord God, help us learn from his example;
Help us to do as he has done for us.
The world will know we are his disciples
If we love one another.
Strengthen our hands and our wills for love
And for service.
Keep before our eyes the image of your Son,
Who, being God, became a Servant for our sake.
All glory be to him who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
One God, now and forever.
Amen.

Betrayal-What Jesus went through on Holy Wednesday.

Matthew 26:14-16  (GNT)
Judas Agrees to Betray Jesus
"Then one of the twelve disciples—the one named Judas Iscariot—went to the chief priests  and asked, “What will you give me if I betray Jesus to you?” They counted out thirty silver coins and gave them to him.  From then on Judas was looking for a good chance to hand Jesus over to them."
Picture
Have you ever been betrayed? Do you feel as if you are being betrayed now? Many American's feel as though they are being betrayed by the media about this virus. Some feel betrayed by the politicians. Children betray their parents. Husband betray wives, and yes--friends betray friends. Betrayal is not a new thing. Betrayal has been around since the beginning. Sometime in our life we either have been or will be betrayed.
Picture
Jesus was betrayed by one of His own. The Bible does not say, "When Jesus was betrayed, it threw Him into a rage, and He wanted to get even; and even considered doing harm to Himself." No. Jesus told Judas, in John 13:27,  “Hurry and do what you’re going to do.” Jesus knew what was in Judas because Jesus spent time with the Father. When we spend time with God we know, what God knows. The word of God tells us that God does nothing, unless He first reveals it to His Prophets. (Amos 3:7).   Here is the link for the video if it is not showing up here. Also if you view this in your Browser the links and pictures are much better and show up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMbqeYLQQQU
ACTION STEP: Take time during this quarantine and Holy Week to spend time in the word of God, let it be the mirror it is intended to be; to reveal you--to you. Spend time in the presence of God and allow Him to reveal to you the true heart and motives of others. If even Jesus was betrayed, then we probably will be too--at least once. Ask God for the gift of Discerning of Spirits. Study the subject and allow God to reveal truth to you. It will not make the pain of betrayal any less but it does help you to navigate through the pain and disappointment.

Yesterday, I took you down memory lane with me. I'd like to continue that journey. What are you having for Easter Dinner? Living in a quarantined world, with a shortage of so many items I normally cook with, my menu has somewhat changed. We usually have ham but, we will be having a Turkey from the freezer; left over from Christmas. Why? I couldn't find the ham I wanted, at the price I wanted. I'm not a real big eater of pork anyway so, I'm fine with it. But, when times and circumstances change we need to be ready to change as well. We will not go hungry. I have never gone hungry. I may not have liked what I had to eat, I never went without. As children of God we will be okay.
Philippians 4:19 ESV
"And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus."
Matthew 6:31-32 ESV
"Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all."
Matthew 7:11 ESV
"If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!"
Luke 12:24 ESV
"Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds!

Good mommies and daddies, are NOT going to let their children go hungry. God sustained His Son when He was hungry. God fed the children of Israel when they were hungry. He fed them with Manna from Heaven, and when that wasn't enough He blew in Quail. God gave them water out of a rock. God takes care of His children.
Picture
Our family is obeying the laws of our land.  Usually, we have a house full of family and friends to our house for Resurrection dinner. Not this year. It's interesting that we all can fast and give up something this week or this time of year in general, only to have a feast on Sunday morning. Why? Because we can. Not because we have to. God wants us to willing sacrifice because of our love for Him. God does not want to starve us, to control us. God even refers to His Word as the Bread of Life.
Picture
As a child going to Grandma's meant a smorgasbord. My grandparents had nine living children. They lost one son and a set of twins, but knew children were born to work. They raised chickens, cows, pigs, geese and a garden. As a child it seemed to me, that Grandma snapped green beans, or cut apples everyday of her life; between baking bread and washing dishes. It didn't matter what time of day it was, if someone stopped by my grandparents offered them something to eat. Bread was rising on a big piece of floured cotton. The oven was loaded with pieces of wood and two loaves were already baking when I woke up. When it would be really frigid outside, the chickens were allowed to come inside. This was a kids dream. If you were too close to the baby geese, you learned quickly how bad they could pinch you. Grandpa's house was a world away from the Pierpoint area where I grew up. Greer and Masontown were still old country. The aftermath of the Great Depression left an indelible mark on this community of Italian Immigrants. They learned to prepare and take care of one another.

I am grateful for my childhood. Sure we had an outside toilet. We drew well water and we worked hard. But, we slept good and had plenty to eat.  I learned I was part of a family and community, and I knew I was loved. I am seeing this during these trying times in the world in which we live. Some, are learning what I learned as a child--we are a family and everyone does their part. Others are learning as they did during the great depression--everyone needs to pull together. There are lines forming for food--but today we need to allow six feet between us, but we don't have to be isolated enemies--but a united family of believers.
Picture
ACTION STEP: The first action step is to fill your apron and take your extra's to your neighbors. If you take a full apron to others, you will not go home empty handed. Walking to Mrs. Betony's, or Mrs. Latusky's as Grandma's lil helper I'd carry a bag of green beans, while Grandma carried her apron full of new potatoes with a hot loaf of bread on top. We'd walk home with a jar of Apple butter and some fresh peaches. During this Resurrection remember the words of our heavenly Father:

Galatians 6:7-9 (KJV)
"Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not."

What's in a name.

Sitting in  my living room this morning drinking my Advocare with a shawl draped over my shoulders, feet tucked under me, for some reason I thought of all the memories of Easter week as a child. My family was Italian and so I was often made fun of in my school. I loved weekends because I got to go to Grandma and Grandpa's house. Ah, Grandma's--everything was normal there. Grandpa would make little crosses out of Palm leaves that were handed out on Palm Sunday, and pin them to my dress. My Grandma always made me dresses out of feedsacks. (Feedsacks were what my grandma got flour, chicken feed and cornmeal in. With feed sacks and flour bags, farmwomen took thriftiness to new heights of creativity, transforming the humble bags into dresses, underwear, towels, curtains, quilts, and other household necessities. By the 1940s the bag manufactureres were turning out bags in bright colors and printed designs.) I loved my dresses. They always had little flowers on them and fit me perfectly. Grandpa loved pinning the cross on my dress. None of the other classmates wore the crosses. When I grew up I found out that there were entire neighborhoods of Italians that wore crosses pinned to their clothes for a week. So, those of you that truly know me, now understand my love for the Italian Festivals, Feast of the 7 Fishes and Italian cooking....Italian apparel; especially leather shoes. Ah the shoes.
Picture
Since this is what many, including myself refer to as Holy Week memories always come to mind as I start to prepare my messages and our menu. Eating is one of the things we Italians do best. My favorite is Pastiera Napoletana (Neapolitan Wheat Berry & Ricotta Easter Cake) I will include the link in case you want to make it. https://food52.com/recipes/27744-pastiera-napoletana-neapolitan-wheatberry-and-ricotta-easter-cake. Oh, you can't start making this Resurrection morning it takes all week when made properly and you can taste the difference!
Picture
What my heart wants to say to you today is this, Easter (The Resurrection) is something we prepare for. The traditions we make or hold to dearly, tell a story of our journey--our life. Jesus' life was a journey too. He was born to die. We as Christians know from Christmas Eve, to the 33 years later on that Resurrection morning a lot took place. But, just like my childhood memories, until today a lot took place that you would know nothing about, unless I shared it with you--many don't know the story about this Jesus.
Picture
The names we call one another have power. My parents named me Rena Mae. I wanted the name Rena Maria. It sounded so much more...well Italian, and holy and powerful. Rena Mae well--it just sounded southern. When my parents were upset with us, they always used our middle name too. If they would yell, "RENA MAE", I knew I was in big trouble. But, I always thought even if you yelled, "RENA MARIA" it sounded "bellissima", beautiful in Italian. I would tell people when they asked what the "M" in my middle name stood for that it was for "Maria." They never doubted me. Sometimes, I believed it myself. Except I did love my Aunt Mae, so I did feel guilt. Now, I know the power of a name. I don't lie. I like my name. God does too. To God names are powerful, they mean something. He named His Son, Jesus, Emmanuel, God with us....
Picture
ACTION STEP: There is power in the name of JESUS. Many of us know Him. We know His story. We know what He loves and what He hates. We even know why He loves what He loves, and hates what He hates. But, there are many who think Easter is just about some Bunny and where the eggs are. They don't know Easter is a pagan holiday about a Ēostre, in whose honor feasts were celebrated in that month.” Ēostre is variously depicted by scholars as a fertility goddess and a goddess of dawn and light. (https://www.timesofisrael.com/the-pagan-goddess-behind-the-holiday-of-easter/)

Now, more than ever the world needs to know Jesus. They need to know why He came, why we love and serve Him and the power of His Name. You and I have a great opportunity to tell the world about Him. In this time of quarantining (which by the way comes from the word meaning 40--which also was the number for how many years the children of Israel were tested in Egypt, and how many days Jesus fasted and was tested in the wilderness by Satan...just saying), let's use our time wisely. Let's be sure to share the story of Jesus and the power in His name.

The Day that Heaven shook.

People asks me all the time if the Lord is punishing us and judging us by putting this COVID19 on us? My answer is always Satan comes to steal, kill and destroy. God came that we might have life and life more abundantly. I also share with them that what our enemies plan for evil, God will work it for our good. (Gen. 50:19-20) Bottom line is I don't know all the answers, but I do know God will work this for the good of His church and His people. Those who love what He loves and hate what
He hates will be alright. God is a good God. When we love what God loves and hate what God hates things will change.

Scripture will be fulfilled. There are locusts plagues as big as cities devouring entire countries lands and fields; and causing planes to have to land. (Somalia and Ethiopia). There have been earth quakes. (6.5 Boise, Idaho, 16 major earthquakes a year...) (There are 1-17 plague cases a year. 7 this year. Between 1900 and 2012 there were 1006 probable human plagues in the US)

Most of the above catastrophes never hit the news. So, why is this virus getting so much attention? How many people do you personally know that have tested positive for the virus, or died from COVID19 in your family, church, or friends?

No weapon formed against us shall prosper. We are hidden under the wings of the Almighty. Read Psalm 91. Things may not be as they seem.

ACTION STEP: Listen to the above video everyday until you know it by heart. When you feel troubled or experience anxiety play this again. Send this to people that you know that need Peace. Let's take this opportunity to be God Dealers and put the Drug Dealers and Liars, Fake News and corrupt politicians out of business and let them be exposed. Now is the time for Christians to arise. God is shaking not just the earth but the heavens. Be prepared to be restored! Be prepared and positioned to be blessed.

Make a great weekend. Tune in to your churches services via Facebook or Live-streaming. For Restorationchurchintl.org on Facebook or YouTube for my message on Palm Sunday and be prepared to have juice and bread on hand in your homes so we can take communion together.
